No precious light to chase today, but weeds, weeds, weeds galore! I thought it might be good to give my 365 friends a view of what I mean by a yard controlled by weeds--I have a victory garden of weeds, if you will. All of my daisy shots come from here, and there's a rattling snake somewhere in the mix. Ivy from my neighbor's yard (not a fan) climbs his fence on my side, which I find annoying.
This is the summer (for the record, I've stated this before) I will transform this space from a weedy mess into a real garden, including raised beds made out of the huge pile of pavers I have sitting right next to me as I take this shot.
Maybe saying it publicly will "make it so." Perhaps the fact I'm now officially unemployed (no summer contracts) as of today means I've got the gumption to enlist the hands of my daughters, get to work clearing out what can be a lovely space, and grow some food.
Now, if I can just scare the snakes out of there first. :0
Please do share your progress. It sounds like a big job, but will be well worth the effort in the end. Let your vision of that glorious garden keep you motivated.
What a great image -- I love that lone little white flower!
PS and thank you for your wonderfully encouraging comments on my Chicago shots from Buckingham Fountain!
If I thought there was a rattlesnake in there I wouldn't even contemplate going near it. You are a brave photographer and an even braver gardener if you are planning to get stuck in to transform that! I also love the wee white flower. :)
Yes you certainly have quite a job on your hands here, and the idea of a snake in there I find very disturbing!! I have two businesses, one of which is garden design so this is a sight I see regularly!! Good luck
@pflaume@writingdays@taffy@witchyjacq@jo13@danette Thanks so much everyone. I'm now nervous that I've put this out there and MUST do something impressive. If only I have Jo @jo13 as my designer! I think I may hire someone to come in for the initial "clearout." Will keep everyone posted. Thanks for all the encouragement and confirmation that this is no small job! Ugh.
I thought that was my garden! Lol - mine is a little on the "wild" side, but I love it and so does the wildlife and weeds! : ) good luck with the project!
Wow. I'm impressed at your ambition. I am just putting the finishing touches on my own makeover of the backyard. I am looking forward to putting my feet up and having a cold one when it's all over! The hardest part is just getting started! I like this shot because it highlights the resilience and strength of daisies - gotta love that!
@andyn Oh, I think I may just have to hire someone with a digger--worth it right? I've got so many pavers, so Ireally want to use them or discard them! Man, it would be ideal to hire you and Jo for this job! 3 continents working together, right? :)
@darylo OK - I'll post a photo when it's done which should be by the end of the weekend or early next week. I killed all my grass! You wouldn't believe how hard that is. No more mowing for me.
