My youngest child is "graduating" from 5th grade today, and she's put on a dress for a little ceremony they're having for the kids. They've asked the children to bring a "sack" lunch (one that can be discarded) and to dress nicely for the occasion. So here is my sweet girl, making that last walk to the bus stop, bag in hand, and dressed for success. Yes, some tears will flow from mom today. I'm such a softy. :)
I'm glad I took these photos--I have some more--one of her getting on the bus even (like I'm stalking her, the poor thing--mothers are such a pain). There's some distance. I know she wished I hadn't taken photos, but later, she'll be glad I did.
Oh, quick note too--I won't be commenting for today and tomorrow--too many activities, but thanks for dropping by and I'll see you all in a couple (we'll be out for summer break, so really looking forward to quality 365 time). :)
Aww, this is such sweet shot! My youngest is graduating 5th grade tomorrow!! I haven't shed any tears yet until I started commenting on your shot! Have a great day today and enjoy every moment!
This is a fabulous shot! I love the way you composed it on an angle and the way your daughter is framed by the line/curve of the sidewalk and the leaves. i love her dress and hair. This girl has style! Good for you for taking all the shots. The ones I regret are those never taken!
I remember those days so well. I love that you got her from behind this way with a spring in her step. Raising kids is the best, but bittersweet. They come out of the womb and commence the process of leaving us. And it's our job to help them go. What a ride. Enjoy!!
So cute! What a nice memory to have! It is a momentous milestone! The day that my youngest of 3 boys "graduated" from elementary school was one of the saddest days of my life. It's still sad for me to drive by the school without missing the happy days of my kids' childhood days! It was a magical time:)
Your feelings of nostalgia really project well through this image. Lovely photo, and yes, someday she, too, will be glad you captured this moment. Enjoy the days of celebration.
I wanted to say a big thank you to you all for dropping by on this photo--it really was a big day, and I was feeling pretty emotional about leaving elementary school life for good with the last child heading toward middle school. They had a lovely ceremony for the kids and my mom and dad came--afterwards we went out for an ice cream treat to celebrate! She just looks so grown up now--and I have to be glad that she's ready to head on to next steps! Thanks again--all your comments made my day so special, and I was happy to share it! :)
What a wonderful moment to capture Daryl - such a special day and now you will have great memories of it! Love you framing too! Hope your daughter enjoyed her last day! : )
