On one of my walks with my mother on Lambert's Cove Beach in Martha's Vineyard, we watched this owner walk ahead of her dog while she talked and talked on the phone. He would just saunter behind (sometimes trying to make friends with another dog who was playing catch with its owner). Then it came across this bit of inland water making its way out to the cove--he started lapping up the deep, dark water, which must have been verrrrry salty. His owner never noticed, but I had to get a shot of this lovely and sweet dog. B&W seemed to be appropriate. I also loved the reflections in the water and the movement (well, and the water just dripping from his mouth). This was a fav for me on the trip (photographically, that is).
Oh, and yes, filler--turns out I did not get to photography today because a)I went back to work, b)just recovering from being sick and c) well, I still have photos to share from other dates and I took a bazillion on vaca! Thanks for all the well-wishes yesterday -- I'm ON THE MEND! :)
Wonderful composition and the b&w is perfect for conveying the wealth of textures. And your commentary...how could this poor dog's owner be so oblivious of him. He's such a cutie and clearly a friendly fellow.
@taffy I was disturbed by the lack of interaction with this dog, but I assumed this was a local who did it every day and I thought maybe this was a call she just had to take. At least, I hope that was the case. Such a sweetie!
What a great shot - love it. Have very much enjoyed your pictures of Martha's Vineyard. It is a place I have always wanted to visit and your pictures have brought it to life for me
@mothervic it is a great place. Not easy to access from where we are, but well worth the time. I went places I had never been this time. If you ever go let me know. I'll give you all yhe important things to do! :)
Holy moly~ This is fabulous! Fav, of course. The reflections behind the dog at first make you think there is a "wall" back there....on the back side of that water. The b and w is excellent for this. The movement of the water and the dripping..great tension! So great, no wonder it is your favorite. Sorry you were sick AND sorry you had to go back to work. You know I was doing that same thing...I am SO TIRED and just trying to rest up.
Hey Daryl, just got back, and this is the first photo I decided to give a look, and... surprise, surprise... instant fav :) Love it in b&w, and how the background matches this handsome dog :)
