Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center (aka the "CDC" on the Walking Dead)
Bucket List Item! This weekend, I spent two nights in a hotel with my daughter and her five friends (all boys) to celebrate the birthday of one of the boys. We were fortunate to stay close to one of the buildings I have wanted to photograph for some time--the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center near Atlanta (just at the perimeter). It's a fantastic venue for all kinds of performances (including those of the Atlanta Ballet) and the architecture and design features attract the eye inside and out!
At the beginning of this weekend, I found myself with time on my own as my daughter preferred hanging out with her friends without me (It goes something like this: "Oh, would you like me to join y'all for dinner?" "No." "But don't you think--" "No." After I licked my self-pity wounds, I realized, wait...I CAN TAKE NIGHT SHOTS AND ALL KINDS OF THINGS HERE! And the birthday boy's father was so kind to say "Go ahead and I'll let you know if I need anything." He was a real gem to host such an amazing weekend for all of us!
I took this shot before heading out to dinner Friday night, and then I ate at my favorite Japanese restaurant, and THEN I returned to take night shots, long exposures, using multiple lenses and my tripod--I'll see if I can develop those too. Oh, I recovered from the rejection feelings I had earlier in the evening.
This night was the start of a great weekend and it was such a unique pleasure to have the freedom to do what I love most!
What a fabulous building. I love the reflections in the windows and those magnificent clouds up above. Great pov. And how wonderful to have had all that time to yourself to do what you love.
