I have been dying to get outside with good weather and FINALLY I got that opportunity. While my daughter had a saxophone lesson today, I took a drive down a road where I knew there was a pretty pasture and some horses. After I parked my car on the opposite side of the street, I checked my settings and then proceeded to the fence surrounding this pretty property. Then two horses and donkey feeding at a feeding station came over so quickly to check me out that I was really worried my wide-angle lens was not completely set ahead of time (it's manual, and the focus is VERY hard to work with as you cannot tell if it's in focus when things get too close). So I waited for the animals to disperse again and then I clicked my tongue to invite this one back to approach me (feeling safe that I could capture him before he could go out of focus).
I love these fields when they are that golden color! Finally a ONS shot I like! :)
Brilliant one -- the lighting of the blue sky and greens in the grass sets off the main focal item, the horse, just perfectly. A landscape with added interest from the horse.
@rvwalker I know! Actually, all three (2 horses and a donkey) were in perfect position and then they saw me and came to greet me immediately! I've been trying to go for a "rural" shot for my photographic society so this was a trial run and it worked for ONS. The shadow under the horse somehow bugs me too, but otherwise, I'm pleased. My wide-angle is a fun lens but add a moving creature, and it's a bit hard with the manual focus that I cannot see in the viewfinder (it's virtually impossible to tell).
