Trinity Church Looking Autumnal

Trinity Church on a gray Saturday afternoon in Copley Square. Trinity is considered one of the ten most architecturally important buildings in America. The Richardsonian Romanesque style is impressive, but in my heart I prefer Gothic.

Trinity sits across Copley Square from my beloved Boston Public Library. I was there today to hear a talk by William Rawn, the architect whose firm designed the recent renovations to the library's 1972 Philip Johnson Building. Architecture is one of my big interests, and I enjoy hearing architects talk. William Rawn was truly inspirational, and his buildings (college buildings, libraries, theaters, a concert hall) are really beautiful. He actually thanked Boston for allowing him to have a career in architecture that has been better than anything he ever dreamed of--how many people would say that about their jobs?
