In February I like to start using some of my violet china. All year long I rotate the china according to the season and my mood.
I found the plate with the violets and roses in an antique shop on Cape Ann, my old home, over thirty years ago. It was the first piece of vintage china I bought; I had no idea it would be the beginning of a large collection. The small violet plate I found in Vermont years ago. The cup is a purchase from just last summer at the Annisquam Exchange on Cape Ann, an old fashioned consignment shop in the village of Annisquam, which is part of Gloucester. I have several violet tea cups, but what made this one different and desirable was the purple painted edge and the purple base on the cup.
