This cove is one of the only parts of the Pond that is iced over. I like the patterns of the snow lying on top of the ice.
Some years the entire Pond would be iced over by February. I've seen 19th century prints of Jamaica Pond with crowds of people skating. This winter is so mild that there has not been a single day when the entire pond had even a thin coat of ice.
