Another View of Old South Church

I spend a lot of time in Copley Square; it's really the center of my Boston. I am constantly fascinated by the Ruskinian Gothic Old South Church, across from the library. Here I'm viewing it from an angle that emphasizes the dome rather than the tower, which is just to the left on the Boylston Street side. I'm shooting above the level of the traffic.

Today I was at the library again, watching the live broadcast of the Mayor answering people's questions for an hour. The Boston Public Radio program really does a great service in bringing us these conversations with our public servants.
Such an interesting addition to the Boston historical architecture

Helen,

I'm glad you were interested enough to look up Ruskinian Gothic. It seems like an unusual architectural choice for a church in Boston, but from what I've read, it was being used in the 1870s for churches and public buildings in the U.S.

The band of green was added by me -- a not very successful border using the "frost" effect on Pic Monkey. I didn't like the white sky at the top and felt it needed a border, so I took the green color from the dome and added the border. Then I think I cropped it off on the sides as I continued to work on the photo, making it square and trying to eliminate the bit of the tower that is leaning into it on the upper left. Anyway, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the photo, but it was late at night and I decided to post it as I do like this view of the building.

Sue,
I hope you do come to Boston some day. It's a small, very walkable city, full of history, and I hear that English people like it better than any other American city.

I love to visit England, and my English trips have been highlights of my life.
