Pink Tea by deborahsimmerman

Pink Tea

We've received a blast of Arctic air, and the temperature with the wind chill factor this morning was around zero F. I was going to another rally on the Common, and knowing I would be standing in the cold and wind for two hours, I wore three warm layers under my jacket, double socks, two scarves, and my alpaca hat. We had wonderful speakers, including the Mayor and three Congress people, including Joe Kennedy, which helped make the cold bearable.

Afterwards I walked back to Copley Square through the Public Garden, which was almost deserted. Hardly anyone was around on the streets, even though it was Saturday; the wind was just too cold. After stopping for some soup to warm up, I took the bus home.

At tea time, I put together this very pink tray and wrapped up in blankets on my chaise longue. This tea cup says "Mother" in gold on the side, and I imagine it was a present for someone's mother in the 1950s maybe. I found it in an antique shop in the lovely village of Sandwich on Cape Cod. I'm fond of it as I adore pink and roses, and the word "mother" reminds me of my dear mother, whom I lost a long time ago.

I felt I had earned a nice pink tea after being out in the frigid cold for several hours.

(The photo is taken with my phone camera. The tray is on my lap.)
