The backyard has changed! by dide

The backyard has changed!

Our globetrotting, woodchopping son is home for a few weeks - apart from catching up with everyone, working, fishing, going to the gym and generally being hyperactive, he's getting in some woodchopping training! He's back to Canada soon and straight into competition events.
This looks like it would heat a house for a year!!
But do you really need wood heat in NZ? We certainly could use it here, it still is 0 degrees C and the lakes are still frozen in Canada.
Where in Canada does your son compete, and is he a logger?

Oh, you have one of those as well! Globe-trotting sons! How nice to have him at home - he can chop the wood for your fires!

Best send him around to ours we need some firewood chopping.

@radiogirl Yes, lots of NZ houses have wood fires. Jesse is a mechanical engineer, and chops in his spare time. He competes in lots of logging events, mostly on the West Coast of Canada.

Love the stack of wood against the paddock!

He would be handy for getting the firewood chopped for winter I'm guessing. I really like this shot with your story.

@tarbaby Probably Jesse will know him, as it's a small chopping community in NZ.

How wonderful to have your globe trotting son home - and doing the chores for you in the name of practice for him :)

Sounds like a useful lad to have around.

Great shot. What a useful son to come and have visit just before winter. I've seen the woodchoppers competing - they are so fast.

Lovely shot of the colour and texture of the wood and new crop behind. I am sure it's good to have your globetrotting son home for a wee while.

I remember seeing some wood chopping competitions in NZ as a kid. I liked when they made something like a chair out of the logs. Looks like you're son has lots to do. It snowed in our town in BC today so he's not missing much over here!
