The latest addition

Over the last few days there has been a flurry of new deliveries. Two new chickens, some wild ducklings on the pond and the only heifer we have (we are only grazing 3 cattle at present) had her calf. It had a rather unfortunate start in life - an unplanned water birth. The silly mother had it down by the drain and it slithered in. When Josh found it, it was very cold and pretty lifeless. Seems to be doing ok now though.
This is a fabulous shot! So glad this little chap survived it's difficult start in life!

Oh my gosh, that is one lucky calf. Dumb cow though. So good Josh found it and you were able to revive the little thing. Lovely wee Hereford.

@golftragic Yes it was crazy - I had been keeping a close eye on her…I went away for one night and she had it then! The other thing is that we have all the drain fenced off and planted in native trees - except about 2 metres of drain near a crossing… silly thing she was.
