Looking up into the top of the lighthouse at Awhitu. This used to be a working lighthouse, which was moved from the original site to here. It is open to the public and has wonderful views, whatever the weather!
Oh...how I miss lighthouses! We're a good hour from the north and west coasts of Brittany...where most of the lighthouses are offshore. However, most Manx lighthouses are on the coast and easily accessible to the public. As a child, I regularly climbed the stone steps to the Light at the Point of Ayre, nearest land spot before the Mull of Galloway...and thereafter, Scotland.
