These are great ideas. Some of them look a little too posed for me. The few that don't are exactly my taste though.

Really interesting stuff. The lighting has a certain quality that I can't put into words that I really like

I was disappointed because the expressions aren't real... the scenarios are created and posed..... even the people on the ride look like they were coached. :( He's really great with the strobes though!

There does seem to be a semi-orchestrated feel to them- not as candid as I thought they would be. On the other hand the "feel" of the photos is accentuated by the colors- they have that brashy bright overly fluorescent color that you get on the Midways of those fairs. Thanks for sharing this.

I love these photographs, even though they look posed. It is a nice change from the usual cheesy kids eating fairy floss stuff. Thanks for posting this.

These are Awesome Paul thanks for sharing. I also thought it sent a very great message to all photographers, that even once you have "made it" in the biz there are going to be times when your work is not well received! Follow your heart and the art will follow!!

Happy Day,

The article does say that he "used an 8-by-10 view camera, which required him to stop and talk to every person he wanted to photograph. He said he had to work up the courage to get the photo he wanted." So yes, some of them will look posed as a result.
