D-Day Scenes -- Then and Now

June 3rd, 2014
A friend shared this link this morning. I find these images quite compelling, especially the effort to so perfectly match the 'then' and 'now' shots.

Thanks for sharing this. I found it fascinating to be able to swipe between the then and now and see them transform. Very compelling.

Thank you for sharing. My grandfather was a medic there. He never spoke about what he saw that day - he would just break down in tears.

Thank you for sharing this. My Dad now 90 was a 20 year old and landed on Sword Beach, on 6th June 1944, he was helping to transport a field hospital. He never spoke at all of his experiences until after the fiftieth anniversary and then only in the most general terms. I remember when my son was twenty thinking so many of those who went to Normandy were only boys and so very many never came home. We must never forget.
