Like Button

February 12th, 2012
Sometimes I really wish there was a Like button for our posts. There are so many photos that I like, but may not have the time to comment on. Maybe we should start a petition to add a Like button as an option. Or maybe I will just start saying Like in the comment section.

I agree wholeheartedly :)

@heatherwilsonaz @eking2007 I think that's what the Fave button is for.

"Like"
February 12th, 2012
Agree

LIKE

I like the idea of a "like" button. But, I like communication better. Tell me why you like it or don't. I'd rather read a comment about the pros or cons. Even if it's just "like" or "wonderful" or whatever. I think the "like button" would replace some of the great communication that this site offers. We all have opinions, lets not take away the opportunity to give them freely! Just my two cents. "Like" it or not. :)

Absolutely need a 'like' button.

agreed

Kind of agree with @mandyj92 on this one - would we lose the great communication and feedback of our pics? Although I do 'like' the idea of a 'like' button :-)

The "like" button is the bane of my facebook existence at the moment ... I have a couple of people who simply like my snapshots (nothing fancy or planned, just snaps) and no comment ... which is all good and dandy if it's only a couple of photos ... but this is an upload of say, 30 photos ... 26 of them "liked" without comment ... notifications when I wake up - 46!

I like that on here I can read a comment from someone as to why they like my photo ... or why they took the time to check it out ... after all, it is a photography site and so many do enjoy the opportunity to seek feedback on their photos or give feedback on others ... I know I don't have anywhere near the time to comment on all the photos but I get to what I can ... sometimes I might get to one person's set and comment for a few weeks worth ... I'd definitely rather that ...

Well I would LOVE some comments but seeing as I'm not getting them lately, a "like" button wouldn't be a bad idea. Its the comments that really keep me motivated to keep going...

Like is for FB..

Keep "like" off 365.!!
February 12th, 2012
@koshi I agree! I find it hard at times to keep up with everyone's photos. But I'd rather catch up on a few at a time and give comments and receive comments that will help identify why someone liked the shot etc. It's the great thing about this site and I have had some of those "Likes" on facebook and found it rather frustrating... I'd rather be more limited with the amount of people I can follow on here and rather put the time into those.

Agree with @bmnorthernlight @andycoleborn @koshi and others. I'd much rather have a few comments from people who spend a bit of time considering my photos, rather than lots of anonymous 'likes'. I don't want 365 to become 'like' facebook!
February 12th, 2012
If I really like a photo, I Fav it. I don't feel I know enough to leave any technical comments, but try to say why I like it, the composition, the colour or sometimes just because it's beautiful to look at. I don't think we really need a like button and a Fav button as well. Just my 2 cents worth....
February 12th, 2012
Yea I agree with a few in here, 'Like' is not the way forward, if you like it you may as well fav it. This was bought up last year , the general census was that the Like button wasn't wanted. More so Ross didn't want it to have facebook similarities and too right, they're two different site.

I like 365 for being different to facebook, I feel that making a comment on someones photo is not an essential part of this project, its a personal journey.
It is lovely to give and receive genuine and productive comments, but I honestly think that a 'like' button would be over used because it would be too easy.
I used the fave button for real favourites that I want to look back on now and then, a simple 'Great' say at lot, I'd rather have that left in my message box : ))
ps, thanks for the topic of conversation though!! : ))

What @bmnorthernlight @north_ender @lorraineb said!

The "purpose" of 365 is different to every member, but "collecting likes" wouldn't make it a better experience for me (if anything it would demean it).

If you like something enough to express it, be courteous enough to share why (or find out more about it) or just to say so. If you like something enough to look back at in the future, FAV it. If you don't, just leave it alone. My 20p! :)

I agree with Andy, Like is for FB, it's the comments that make this site exceptional, it encourages communictions and ideas right across the world - definite NO to LIKE.
February 12th, 2012
No like 'like'. I agree completely with those who don't like 'like' though I can sympathise with those who would like 'like'.......
I'd much rather have a comment, it's what makes the whole site tick for me. If you don't have time, don't worry - I'm pleased you stopped by to have a look anyway. My daughter is forever on facebook and clicking 'like' and typing lol until I feel it loses its meaning...
February 12th, 2012
@lindylee Great project so far- I am amazed at your lack of comments.
February 12th, 2012
I think a "Like" button would depersonalize this site in a really bad way. If you don't have time to comment, oh well, you don't have time. The comments and interactions are what make this site unique and special.
February 12th, 2012
@judithdeacon Thank u so much for your wonderful comment there Jann and the follow
February 12th, 2012
I don't want a like button! It gets used on fb far too often as a substitute for actual interaction with people. Plus the fav button is the equivalent of that, no? (except you have to REALLY like a photo to fav it)
Sometimes I do wish I could "like" other people's comments though, instead of tagging them just to notify them that their comment made me lol :)
February 12th, 2012
Pretend the button we ALREADY HAVE says Like and not Fav and you should be set. And, IMO, if a Like button is that vital a means of communication for you, that you have a hard time functioning on sites that don't have one, then you should really consider spending less time on Facebook.

P.S.@pwallis - here is your official notice that you made me LOL. :)
February 12th, 2012
I guess there are differing opinions on this. I am still new here and I love the comments and would never want to take away from that. I try to comment on the people I follow everyday. Facebook is not the only site that has a like button, Pinterest does too and I have seen many photos from 365 on pinterest with many likes.
February 12th, 2012
@clarissajohal - thanks for expressing what I too was thinking.
February 12th, 2012
like ;)
February 12th, 2012
@koshi I agree. On FB, I hate it when my friends and family just click on like for my photos. @clarissajohal And I agree with Clarissa as well. @pwallis And yes, this tag thing can be a pain. @beautifulthing and what you said about less time on FB. I don't thinking typing in the word like is very likable either. Leave a comment or not. Like is so luke-warm..ugh.
February 12th, 2012
i often wish there was a 'dislike' button.... or a 'this fucking sucks ass' button
February 13th, 2012
@grecican You're so classy
February 13th, 2012
@clarissajohal *passes grey poupon*

why thank you kindly
