welcome to the dark side...

February 15th, 2012
a lot of folks hate (OH NOES... NOT THAT WORD AGAIN!) the over-usage of vignettes in pics that have been post-processed. personally am a big fan. not always, of course. but, imo, it's a great effect when used appropriately. and i use it probably way too much...

long of the short... show us your love (or hate) for your pics you've added vignette to! here's some from me to get the ball rollin':

okay... what you working with, homies?
February 15th, 2012
February 15th, 2012
@pwallis i love this one, Paula! :)
February 15th, 2012
I'm often a big fan, lately I've been using the graduated filter to control how much goes in which corner, but here's some with straight-up vignette PP's:

I think the Peter Rabbit one uses graduated filters & vignette.

/eta/ Alright, sorry for that. Using a new browser for the first time today. Way way faster than IE, FF, Safari or anything else I've tried with my netbook but was copying the wrong thing in my menu, thought I had a missing carat or quotation mark : P

February 15th, 2012
@echoia your pics aren't showing up :'(
February 15th, 2012
@grecican I actually don't think I have any other recent vignettes (other than the ones I haven't posted yet) - I'll keep looking though.
February 15th, 2012
@grecican would you believe, that's the ONLY vignette I could find in my project??
February 15th, 2012
@pwallis dang, dude!
February 15th, 2012
Conversely, I vignette almost all of my photos. It's mostlyy so light that it isn't noticeable, but I think it makes a difference.

Here's tonight's. A little stronger than usual.

February 15th, 2012
@lluniau this is incredible!
February 15th, 2012
@grecican What's that? That you've found a vignette buddy?! :D
February 15th, 2012
@lluniau lol... that, too!
February 15th, 2012
I luvs vignetting! here's one where I did it with a light touch.
February 15th, 2012
@msk1p2 daaaaaaaaw... yes. this works really well. can't even tell!
February 15th, 2012
lol... mine are inappropriate for 365 usage... however, I think they can be a useful tool to add intimacy and to draw the eye in. Hate is a good word when used appropriately too. ;)
February 15th, 2012
@hellcat ooooooooooh i'd love to see!!!
February 15th, 2012
BTW, there are some nice ones featured here. I'm really liking the Peter Rabbit snow globe one.
February 15th, 2012

February 15th, 2012
I has this one:

And this one is more subtle:

February 15th, 2012
@echoia oooooh the snow globe is brilliant... bout to fave!
February 15th, 2012
@eileenmabalot @beautifulthing i am loving all of these works, you guys! both of you do vignette so subtle and well!
February 15th, 2012
@grecican I can't figure out how to lighten the vignette effect in PS, any tips?
February 15th, 2012

February 15th, 2012
:)
February 15th, 2012
@pwallis sure... first off, do you use Adobe Bridge prior to photoshop?
February 15th, 2012
@grecican uuuuh, I'm gonna say no, since I have no idea what that is.
February 15th, 2012
@mjkthorpe haaahahhaha kitty!! so cute
February 15th, 2012
@pwallis hahahahaa... that's where i do my vignetting, honestly. i start there. then, i fuck with it on photoshop... burn/dodge really helps with the lighting effects
February 15th, 2012
[insert photo of some vinegar because i'm so amusing]
February 15th, 2012
@eyebrows *snort*
February 15th, 2012
@grecican note to self: must learn dodging and burning....
February 15th, 2012
@pwallis it's easy AND fun! :)
February 15th, 2012

February 15th, 2012
@grecican ^_^
February 15th, 2012
@elke oh man... RAD!!!
February 15th, 2012
@grecican :-D
February 15th, 2012
I admit it... I do use vignette a lot... especially to make "weaker" photos look better. I'm a cheat, I know! :D

February 15th, 2012
@grecican

thanking you ;)
February 15th, 2012
Added a very light gray one to this shot.
February 15th, 2012
@polarvrtx your cat is beautiful... tortie?
February 15th, 2012
February 15th, 2012

this one was funky with the editing. over exposed and then i played around a lot.

this one is one of my faves. i love vignettes and use them often but not very dark and heavy. i'm more of a light and subtle fan. ;)
February 15th, 2012
I like vignettes too!

February 15th, 2012
@grecican Thanks, yeah!
February 15th, 2012
Not the biggest fan , used sparingly it can work well. I know you bummed this one

February 15th, 2012
@mstipe oooh super dark one, the dragon!!
February 15th, 2012
@azza_l yep... i loved this one you took!
February 15th, 2012
I am finding myself vignette'ing and high contrasting a lot...I'm trying to try other things butttttttttt I like it lol.

Eh and there's more... :D
February 15th, 2012
@tamsg4 really dig your first two!
February 15th, 2012
February 15th, 2012
@juanita that's just stunning
February 15th, 2012
I like tastefully done vignettes. I like your building pic with vignette a lot, for example. @grecican

I can go overboard and ugly with them and still learning when to stop.
February 15th, 2012
@ikamera oh man... i can TOTALLY (and do) go overboard, too!
February 15th, 2012
sometimes I like 'em sometimes I don't...but this one needed it I think!

February 15th, 2012
The Hipstamatic Libatique lens does it all by itself :-)

February 16th, 2012
I'll admit I'm a little addicted to vignetting as well....I'm just drawn to it for some reason, so I totally understand Quin :) Here are a few of my images where I used it.

February 16th, 2012

February 16th, 2012
I'm probably doing too many right now...I think my last 6 photos have them! I went back and forth on this one, but decided to vignette in the end.

February 16th, 2012
@mstipe
Another dragon one!
Thar be dragons!
February 16th, 2012
@heidievans73 your cat and child pic is absolutely gorgeous!

@catalfonso really feeling the vignette for that car pic!

@cmc1200 i LOVE this pic!

February 16th, 2012
mine are so subtle. I should just go bold one time.

February 16th, 2012
@katiebrenkert That 2nd picture is ADORABLE!
February 16th, 2012
@grecican why you always starting fights?

I don't think I ever used a vig intentionally, but I guess this one counts:

And maybe this from yesterday:

February 16th, 2012
Here's my favorite! While looking for one to post I counted 7 or 8 that I have used the vignette on, I guess I like it too.
February 16th, 2012

February 16th, 2012
@tamsg4 thanks!

February 16th, 2012
I like vignettes. Or, as I call them, Vig-nets!

February 16th, 2012
The dreaded white vignette

February 16th, 2012
February 16th, 2012
February 16th, 2012
February 16th, 2012
Not fair for me to post a shot here since the vignette in my pics is added automatically by Hipsta. Or not, in many cases :-)
February 16th, 2012
@jinximages wow... your vignette style is phenomenal!
February 16th, 2012
I know this wasn't what you were looking for. I love vignettes, dark ones that is...

... but this is the first time I've ever used a white vignette. Ever.
February 16th, 2012
There you go:

February 16th, 2012
@dieter right on... i love white vignettes, too... they really help set off an image something fierce when used right, too! this is totally what i was looking for, believe it or not. white vignettes are just as much vignettes as black.

February 16th, 2012
I love vignette, but usually only use it very lightly. These are some of my heavier black & white vignettes:

February 16th, 2012
I love vignettes! I don't do enough of them!

February 16th, 2012
Today's entry

February 16th, 2012
Jen
I love them, and probably use them too much.

February 16th, 2012

Quite heavy on the vignette :-)
February 16th, 2012
February 16th, 2012
This is my most recent photo where I used a vignette.
February 16th, 2012
here are the ones I like

February 16th, 2012
Joe
I added it on this one to keep the focus off of the items in the background or around the border. I try not to use a vignette all that much, for the most part.

This one's actually just natural. It's the falloff from the light at the shutter speed/aperture I shot at.

I just added a subtle one, but it made quite a difference.
February 17th, 2012
February 17th, 2012
I love vignetting and have a fantastic preset I downloaded somewhere for Lightroom, to give this effect.
February 17th, 2012

February 17th, 2012
love:

don't love:

February 17th, 2012
I think most (all?) of my photos have at least a very subtle vignette.. This is one on the stronger ones:

February 17th, 2012
Both pictures of hearts but:
love this one:

hate this one:
February 17th, 2012
@marieooi stunningly gorgeous shot, Marie... wow!

I had to go back before summer to find samples, I used to throw all sorts of shitty 'effects' at pictures. ;)
February 18th, 2012
This would be it! photo of my grandson being intrigued with the wall mural!
February 18th, 2012
Guard Wall...
