Is this unusual? or am I paronoid?

I have just logged on and I have an email that I have a new follower. I followed the link and this person ( 2 names so maybe 2 people?) has no photos up at all and yet is following 60 people and has no followers!! Is this a scam thing Ross should be aware of or am I been paranoid?

who knows, I guess they're innocent until proven guilty of something.

I've had that happen before. Usually it's people just starting out. Spammers tend to not follow folks, but just post on threads/pictures

I wouldn't be concerned. I doubt someone with malicious intent would actually announce their presence by officially following you. The number of legitimate reasons for the situation you describe far outnumber anything that would concern me.

@chewyteeth @lolanae @kannafoot

Thank you so much for replying, it looked unusual that there were no shots posted at all, so needed to ask.

There are some people, who like photographs, but don't actually take them, I call them customers. I have 15 or so followers on Flickr who don't post anything, they just happen to like some of mine and others work.

Bernadette, I would have been startled by it too. But, I agree, it is probably harmless. For instance, I have several friends and family members who like my photos and "follow" my 365 project by bookmarking the site.

They have mentioned before that they would like to comment on my photos, but cannot as they are not members. So, I have made the suggestion that they create an account, just to be able to comment. It may be something like that. :)

@cookie123 My best friend in all the world is on here 'following people', but not in the stalkerish way; she just loves good photography....but doesn't have the time to fully devote to the 365 project at this time.

@cookie123 My sister created an account with no profile photo and has not uploaded anything... just so she could follow her big brothers 365 journey. She has since followed another couple of people and Fav'd some shots. So it may just be someone who enjoys looking at great photos since 365 has so many great photographers.

@cookie123 I too have a best friend following me with an empty profile. I'd just take it as a compliment (until they turn up on your front lawn, then perhaps be a bit concerned)!

Thanks Guys , I feel a bit better now and as you say Helen, I will take it as a compliment, if they arrive on the lawn I will sell them some photographs LOL

At least they are following others...

I've got a follower just following me and no one else...!!!

@andycoleborn your very own 365 stalker...... I am laughing but to be honest if it was me I would freak out.
January 22nd, 2013
I have one photo that one person has faved. That person has no profile pic, no uploads, following nobody, no followers..........
January 22nd, 2013
@andycoleborn oo get you...show off!! LOL :)

If it is Kammy and Duff, look who they are following and it will be amazingly close to the group that started in 2011 It seems a group of us have come back and are using new accounts. I for one started a new account to get rid of all the absent followers and to highlight my work now and not have all my learning curve items.

@andycoleborn Andy, fess up and just admit that it is you with the second account and they give faves every day just to get on the Top 20. ;-) (that is the last thing you would ever need to do.

@phillyphotos Ha! I've been rumbled....
January 23rd, 2013
Bernadette, this has happened to me a few times, but never a problem. They didn't comment, or post pictures, just followed me. :-)

Weird - I've just picked up like 10 new followers in the last few minutes - all with no pictures? @scrivna
