Blurb.com Book ~ Paper Type?

November 15th, 2014
I FINALLY got the pictures from my first year of the 365 project sorted into a book to be published on Blurb.com. All I have to do is order... but I'm stuck on which paper type to choose.
These are my options:
Standard $0.00
Premium, matte +$29.22
Premium, lustre +$29.22
ProLine Uncoated +$61.98
ProLine Pearl Photo +$80.00
I will probably upgrade, but would matte or lustre be better? And is the ProLine really really great? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I just rec'd a book back that I ordered from Blurb and I got the standard paper. I wish I would have upgraded because the paper is pretty thin. I think next time I will go for premium matter or lustre. I am anxious to see if anyone else has experience with the other papers.
Good luck and I hope you love your book:)

@sissyaj ~ Thanks - I'll definitely upgrade then. Now to pick which one...

did you make yours in the Lightroom book module?

@sissyaj ~ No, I used BookSmart. There is so much flexibility with that as far as creating or modifying layouts. I looked that the LR module, but I've used BookSmart before so went with what I know. Which do you use?

I used LR. Maybe I should look at BookSmart. I don't think it was easy to modify layouts in LR. The thing that I did like was that if I wanted to tweak a photo, I could go right over to the develop module and do that.

I always use premium matte. I used lustre once, but it shows all the fingerprints, and I like the matte finish better. I heard that Pro Line is not a huge difference, but never tried it myself.

@kph129 - It may be too late, but I went with Blurb for a couple of photobooks for gifts a Christmas ago. I was pretty disappointed with the quality. Recently I got my wife a photobook through mpix (our wedding photographer recommended them for regular prints, which were STUNNING), and I was thoroughly impressed with their quality. Check them out if you get a chance.

@laetitiapetrussa - thanks! I'll try the matte.

@hrethric thanks! I've never looked at mpix, but will check them out for next time.

I use ProLine pearl and very happy with the quality. It is quite a premium but there is a huge difference in quality.

I use the standard and its average quality paper - had 4 done and happy with all of them

I had a book made on Blurb with all of Spock's pictures from year 1 ( http://www.blurb.com/b/4234529-mr-spock). I used premium lustre paper and find the quality really good.
What I did was order a swatch kit ( http://www.blurb.com/swatch-kit) first to get a feel of the different papers and then made my decision based on that.

@roseolivia @kmrtn6 @spock ~ Thanks for the tips!
