If you feel like sharing, I'd like to know what you do (or did, or even what you would like to do) for work. Also, it would be interesting to know where you live (generally speaking).
I'm just curious as it seems some of you travel the globe for your job, while others (like me) are more house-bound. Some of you are in high school and some in college. There are pro-photographers on here -- while others are aspiring to be.
I know it's in a lot of your profiles -- but thought this would be a fun way to give a little more context to our photos.
Thanks in advance for sharing!
As for me -- I used to do creative writing/concepting at advertising agencies -- and now I'm a stay-at-home mom of 2 very busy little boys in Atlanta, GA. I hope to be able to do both jobs some day again, as I did at first -- but I am where I need to be right now.
I was a high school teacher in the UK, Head of Music. I got a prestigious Music job in Hong Kong where I met my American Marine Corps husband a few weeks after Sept 11th 2001. He was deploying. We married and I now live in the US. I write music for choirs in Wales now, in between being a stay-at-home mum to two boys.
i'm a music promotion student in southampton (uk), although i finish my degree in three days! after this, i have an internship in london for the summer and am hoping to start a masters degree in digital marketing in september :)
I'm a professor at a small, Baptist liberal arts university in Abilene, Texas (Hardin-Simmons). I teach Old Testament and biblical Hebrew. I also write for a Mac blog (Macgasm.net).
I am a secretary at an education association in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. A wife and mother of two grown boys (19 and 22). Graphic Design and photography is what I would like to be doing, but for now it is just a hobby :)
I too am a stay at home mum , to 3 muchkins , Darren 13 , Marcus 12 and Connor 3 :)

I'm a Special Education ParaEducator in an Autism Classroom at Longbranch Elementary in Union, Kentucky. We have 6 kiddos ages 5-7. I dearly LOVE my job and will miss the kids over summer break! Only 14 days left of this school year!
I hold two positions in television... Broadcast Controller and Media Exchange Operator (two weeks in one position then two weeks in the other) in Adelaide, South Australia
I am a full-time student studying music, music technology, drama and theatre studies, and French at sixth form college. I also teach music (flute, piano and electronic keyboard, and also music theory) both privately and group work for the county council music service. When I leave college in June next year I will be joining the British Royal Navy as a Warfare Officer. (If I get through the interviews!)
I am a former 3rd grade teacher, who just last year decided to stay home with the kids. This decision was made for me when we moved from Maine to Nebraska to be closer to our family. After next year, I have no idea what will happen. I will probably return to the classroom in some shape or form...
I'm a SAHM to a monkey monster and little gremlin aka Callum and Riley. Before my eldest was born I worked up London for a top law firm as a paralegal but I don't miss it one bit even though Mummy hours are 24 hour days. One day I would love to have my own photography buisness but, well that's a dream at the moment. Oh and I live just outside of London in Essex.
I'm a Multi Tasker.. A mum first and foremost to my wonderful children who are 11 & 15, then adding to that I am a Neuro Linguistic Programmer and Counsellor, generally looking into special cases. I am also studying a degree in Psychology as well as doing Human Resources, once I have completed these I will continue onto the Masters in Occupational & Organizational Psychology. These days most of my work is from home, though I have travelled for specific cases, and my client base can be very international, literally from all over the world, America, Saudi, Australia etc.
I work for Britvic (the drinks company) as a Continuous Improvement Co-ordinator - which means that I implement changes and techniques to improve all aspects of the manufacturing environment. I work in Norwich (Norfolk) but live on the coast about 25 miles away in Great Yarmouth.

Worked in finance and banking in Thailand and Hong Kong for the past 18 years or so. Art, architecture and philosophy were my passions when I was young. Have to say I didn't pursue my dreams. :-)

Its working with oe of my oldest friends who has just set up a new estate agency. I chucked my last job in whilst off sick because of the stress! I live in Oxfordshire (UK), so if anyone wants to buy/sell a property then let me know!!!! :)
Great thread, Samantha!
I LOVE travel and HATE working for the man, so it is extremely lucky for me that I lost my right hand many years ago, qualifying me for a disability pension. Though I am an Aussie, my pension pays enough for me to spend most of the year in the US, travelling, hiking, camping and visiting friends. I plan to spend 3 months this summer working in an Aussie ski resort to save extra cash. I think that would be fun!
If I could have my life over again, I would have studied music, moved to Los Angeles and made a fortune writing pop songs for pop stars to sing! Now though, I am thinking about maybe trying to make a few $$ with photography and/or audio-visual design working for myself...
Interesting to see what everyone does and where they live!
I'm an American who married a Scot 11 years ago and moved to Scotland. I retired early and we spent 2 years in Uganda where my hub volunteered to train teachers. Been back home in Scotland for a year and a half. I love it here!!
I have two granddaughters who live in Michigan. We love to travel and do so as often as possible.
when I was younger, cared for teens with special needs In Australia .. then nannied in London for 4 years for a family with a toddler with special needs..
went back to Australia and cared for 4 teens with Autism .
Then to the US were I now work in a pre school. I run the toddler and parent group. and I do Parent Ed classes... Normally I run the youth section of it , but my manager who does the adult section is training to be a trainer and wanted to do the youth this time so she knew what she was teaching... I prefer the youth part.. more interactive .. plus I never grew up so I can relate to the kids..
I also do art activities at our local community monthly family nights ,.
I sub in the pre school when a teacher is out.. and I do child care for other family / parenting events.
and It looks like next school year I may be back in the pre school full time.. while keeping the other jobs , aside from the child care..
Hell just writing about it has made me tired... goodnight !!
I worked for a portrait studio for 8 years and quit 3 years ago after having my first child. Now I do photography on my own and have my own wedding photography business. Stay at home with my kiddos, which I love!
I'm a Firefighter and run a carpentry business on the side, neither of which allow for a lot of time to photograph. I would like to travel more and hope to when the kids get a little older.
I work in the Hospitality industry-- my company makes the electronic door locks and safes that you use in hotels. I manage a team that handles projects throughout the Western Hemisphere.
I work for a German-based company that manufactures motion control products for use in medical, microscopy, data storage, astronomy, etc applications. There I create websites (all aspects-coding, uploading, creating graphics) , print ads, animated banner ads and also I do some trafficking. I've learned a lot about physics at work, and also about the significance of the nano.
I have 3 daughters, and two of them are away at University, and my 9-yr-old is still in the nest. :-) My husband is from the Tyrolean region of Austria and so we visit there as much as we can. I also have three cats.
I went to school and have my BFA in Photography and a BFA in advertising graphic design. However, I graduated college in 2009, right when the economy crashed here in the States. Naturally, the arts are first to lose money and job disappear. So I am now working with Special Needs kids for a school district. It is a very rewarding job but can be extremely stressful at times. I've learned so much about myself working with these wonderful children. I've also learned about patience! Currently, I am toying with the idea of getting my certificate in Occupational Therapy, because as you know, the school system here in the States is quickly losing money and going down the drain. There are a lot of politics in the Education system..and I think I want out. But I would still love to work with people who need help. That is where occupational therapy comes in.
whew...I'm sorry. that was a lot to read. but that's me. :)
I work as an operating room nurse. I work in different areas, but mainly urology (lots of kidney surgeries and transplants). I've enjoyed reading everyones responses to this!
I'm a lawyer and for the last 5 years work in IT. Now as Supplier Management Team Lead and Client Service Manager. Between meetings with clients, I read about photography, take as many as possible and hope one day to become a professional photographer :). I run a translation agency from my home on the coast in southern Spain. I was born In the US, but have spent almost my entire adult life over here and have been a citizen of this country for 10 years now.
I've been a photography hobbiest for more years than I care to admit (not for fear of revealing my age, but for fear of eliciting a response of "that many years and this is all you can do???" ha ha ha), but I will say that I know my way around a dark room and my first SLR (film, of course), which I still have and use occasionally, was a Minolta Maxxum 5000i. I have no intention of going pro; all I want is to have fun and improve each day.
I am a clinical psychologist, now work mostly at my clinic located in a part of my home, a former university lecturer and I wrote several books for the Open University ( in psychology). Because I am not so young I had the chance to do other jobs in the past like being an air stewardess at my twenties, was lecturer comparative literature later but before I become a psychologist , and I would like to be an urban agricultural – to grow organic vegetables and fruits in containers on the roof and in communities spaces. That goes along with my love recycling craft and art but with no time now for that.
I'm a technology professional and work for a sub-contractor for NASA. I work on satellite projects and have done fortran programming and database work. I also do website design, tech support and manage all the property in our building. I have worked on the TOPEX satellite project which discovered the El Nino and La Nina effect, and ICESat which studies the changes in the ice sheets, among other things. I have also done support for CODAR which are coastal radars that measure sea surface currents. Lots of variety in my job and I really enjoy it. Very flexible which I enjoy as well. I travel a minimal amount, mostly to Washington for monthly meetings. I live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia which is very rural and I like it a lot because I can only take crowded places in small doses.
I'm a chartered accountant but don't practice the profession for years now. I'm currently connected with a credit insurance company here in Paris, in the administration division.

I'm a marketing manager for a multi-media company in Salt Lake City, UT. One day, I'd like to make my children my "career" and photography and writing a second job (still trying to convince my husband of that!). I know I have a long way to go in my photography to make any sort of living out of it, but I'm up for the challenge :)
I do travel a bit around the U.S. for my job, and my husband and I like to travel a lot for fun, which is great for this project.
I am a color imaging engineer working mainly on color, image, and graphics software for laser printers and color copiers. I have been involved with the design of halftones, and color profiles for a number of printers. I have attended some color imaging conferences where I have learned about high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) from the inventors of the technology.
I am an RN working for a pediatric home health care agency. I received my degree at the age of 51 after my kids were grown and off to college themselves. I live in a northern suburb of Dallas and enjoy interaction with my three grandchildren with my husband.
I'm pretty boring. I'm mostly a stay at home mom. I worked at Bath and Body Works for 3 years, before that at a restaurant for 3 years. I clean houses one day a week to pay what little bills I have. I went totally broke, so my daughter and I are living with my parents until I can get back on my feet, which will hopefully be soon.
after college worked for Reebok International in Marketing and stayed there for over 10 years then developed and marketed exercise equipment (spin bikes and reebok core board) for 6 years...after that just marketing consulting for small businesses...now just help my hubby out in his dental office and fell hook line and sinker for photography about 11 months ago...living in LA area with 2 grown boys!
Thank you for asking this! I have wondered where people are from...A lot of bios don't say. I am from Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada. I work at an Architect firm as an Executive Assistant. I hope to get out there and take more coastline and local flavour shots, but so far am mostly a couch potato...
I am a retired Computer Science / Mathematics Professor, before that I did computer science research at Bell Labs, Lawrence Livermore Labs, Grumman Aerospace, and Tektronix.
@samanthamcbride
i am a sahm and a fulltime carer for my 4 and 7yr old (out of 4 kids) who have type 1 diabetes. I am a qualified teaching assistant and have a degree, but my kids needs mean its hard for me to hold down a job:-( they come first afaiak x
i'm a child psychologist. i work with children (2-12 yrs old) with special needs (autism, FASD, anxiety, behavioural, and emotional difficulties, etc.). i see something i'd like to capture every 5 minutes at work but of course i can't photograph the children. i've settled for trying to capture their energy and wisdom in other ways.
I live a few miles from Erie, Pa and I am employed by my one and a half year old son. Every waking minute of his life he controls mine, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My house and my dog might wish things differently though, as he is a little terrorizer! I am an aspiring photographer and would some day like to open up a studio and art gallery.
I'm a software engineer working in Birmingham in the UK (and I live 35 miles away near Leicester). I mostly work on embedded software for networking products but I can turn my hand to anything really from applications to web or databases. I have worked on defence projects before - radar and mapping related. I love open source software and getting the best out of it - including all the great free tools. I love problem solving. I don't travel much in my job unless you count commuting but I have been to the USA (NC) and Japan (Tokyo) on business which was very fine!
@lislee75 your job sounds interesting and reminded me of the greatest job I didn't get - a residential post on the Canary Islands maintaining the software that lets people use the facilities remotely - how cool would that be?!
@sparkle If you do LEAN, do Scrum and Agile mean anything to you? :)
I was just thinking gosh I think I'm underqualified to be here ! I have been a stay at home Mum most of my adult life , but when I work it's been mostly customer service and cleaning jobs . I had been working as a casual teachers aide this year but am not getting enough hours and getting very bored so I have applied for a job cleaning with our local mine . I am hoping to get it ! A job is a job I say !
I'm a graphic designer and i'm from New Zealand - so I seem to always be uploading my photos earlier than most coz we're ahead of everyone in time over here :-)
I'm a nurse :) I worked at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago for nine years out of college. Went back to school for MSN and then worked as an insurance nurse for a little over 15 years-- group health, workers' compensation, and disability, I bounced around the industry. Now I am in hospital-based care management. @digitalrn has what I hope to do at some point in my career... we'll see. I live in the Chicago area, Illinois - if you look at a map of Chicago, where I-55 and I-294 intersect, that's where I live.
I'm a Registered Nurse and work in the wheatbelt in Western Australia in a small country hospital. I also write and publish books about first names and sexual health when time allows, but have not done anything since taking up a photography hobby in January. I have only recently resumed my career after giving it up to raise my children, one of whom has Autism, ADD and was sick for many years.
i'm unemployed right now (and either over or under qualified for every job that i apply for) but i'm in two grad school programs- one for a certificate in homeland security and one for my masters in public administration. i am also going for criminal justice next spring. i love torturing myself with higher education, apparently. i want to work for the government but i really want to write nonfiction prose or fiction in my spare time. when i finally have some. i live in worcester, massachusetts-second largest city in new england after boston.
I am a middle school technology teacher in southeast Iowa (USA). I credit my technology classes for my new-found love of photography. I teach it to my 7th grade students and LOVE it!
was a musical comedienne and performance artist for many years now i'm an attorney in juvenile court contracted with the state of vermont to represent parties who cannot afford an attorney ... after a day of the courthouse it's photography that sustains me and keeps me sane esp all of you in 365.
Well, for 6 years I taught Environmental Education at a Science Camp. But, I quit at the end of 2008 to do an 11 month mission trip to 11 countries (I ended up in 18 countries).
I got back in November 2009 and have been actively seeking employment since. I do nanny right now but don't get paid (other than room and board). I take care of two of my nieces.
I would love to go back to school and get a degree in Social Work so that I can either start an organization that mentors youth who have an absent parent and/or work for an organization that's goal is to abolish human/sex trafficking and exploitation.
I did recently start my own little "business" making beads from paper and turning them into necklaces. So far, I am not doing too well; I haven't sold any necklaces yet. Feel free to check out my online store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/arcoffey

Unfortunately, I'm now a North Texas SAHM and it wasn't by choice. Sounds horrible, I know. I love my kids, but I am one of those really weird people who likes to work.
Before I was laid off due to the rotten economy, I was a bill collector. Before that, I was a farmer/farmers daughter in MN. Strange the direction life takes you.
I am a professional artist first, but I'm being paid at the moment as the interim assistant gallery director at a small private liberal arts university, where I have also taught in the past (in the art department). My contract is up this next week, and then I resume my full-time stay-at-home-mom gig for the foreseeable future, with some freelance graphic design work in the mix. I completed my Master's degree in public service administration in 2009, with the idea that I would commandeer a non-profit arts organization, but then the US economy tanked, and so did all the non-profits, especially in the arts. All in all, however, it's a very good life!
@ukcam hey Cam, I've heard of Agile not scrum (gunna have to look it up now!!) Is that the methodology you use? I've been practising LEAN ever since leaving Uni - 15 years or so!! I trained to be an industrial product designer but that career path was dug up pretty early on!!
I'm senior software engineer for Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing plant floor systems.
I've been working in IT (programming and systems design) since 1987 when I graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Go figure! :)

@looseimages fate was on my side! I have been into family history for over 30 years and did a qualification at evening class. My gardening job was getting me down physically after 15 years and I got to scanning the local ads for a new job. Saw the advert, applied and got it! Been doing this for about 2 and half years now and love every day!
@sparkle we have been using it as provided by www.rallydev.com for a while and it seems more productive than our older ways of working. I'm lucky really to have been able to stay at what I like and am reasonably good at, although these days it seems a potential career change is always around the corner! I have worked on sites where the R&D happened alongside manufacturing, these days it's just R&D and some final assembly with most manufacturing done at an overseas partner, but still very proud to be making products in the UK :)

I am new to this site, thanks to an also-new friend I met at a conference. I live in Austin, Tx and am a victim services counselor working with victims of felony cases. One of the ways I maintain my optimism and love for life is to notice the perfection in the everyday moments, people, and views. I enjoy taking pictures for pleasure, and decided to make my theme for life also my theme for 365--finding beauty in the ordinary. I'm looking forward to new ideas from you all!
I live in the metro Portland, OR area. I'm the intake coordinator at anon profit law office that does protection and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. Which means, I'm on the phone most of the day, interviewing people about the issue they need assistance with, providing information and referral, and triaging potential cases. Enjoying 365 project as it offers a creative outlet and forces me to see things from different perspectives.
@Cherrill - where did you do your genealogy studies? I've been doing genealogical research (for Judith's and my families mainly) for many years and would be interested in extending my knowledge and possibly following your lead.

Oh yes, I now live in Suffolk with my husband who retired last year and I am counting the time until I can retire also and concentrate more on becoming a better photographer, a hobby I have enjoyed for many years. I love 365, you meet so many new friends and constantly learn from criticism and observation of other peoples work.
Certified Financial Planner....also an organizer of a travel club....member of an Improv performance group....and...PHOTOGRAPHY....but all are just hobbies except the financial job. It pays the bills and I LOVE my work. :)
I am a mom of two and a student living in Colorado. I have an associates degree in psychology and am working on my bachelor's. I plan to be some sort of child counselor in a school some day.
I am a 40 year old wife and mom to 2 girls. I live in MA, and work as a dental hygienist in a pediatric office. I am totally amateur when it comes to photography, but have enjoyed learning how to take better pics. I notice a lot more things in life, now that I am looking for cool things to photograph :-)
I am the Accts Payable clerk for a Christian based non profit in Calgary. I love my job and the people I work with. 365 provides an outlet for me to grow my passion for photography of the great outdoors. I spend more time on this site than on FB

I'm a photographer, both employed and self-employed. My business is mainly portraiture and weddings (though I don't push the wedding side of things, I do tend to run about a 50/50 split on jobs which means, of course, that my main income is weddings). My site is http://jinximages.com if anyone cares about that part of my livelihood. My employed job is as a Police Photographer / Crime Scene Examiner. Yes - CSI. No - nothing like TV. ;) When kids ask me about it I tell them I'm more like Dexter. Crime scenes, bodies, and blood are all very interesting, but I much prefer running my business. My business doesn't pay as much superannuation and other benefits, like holidays, though.....
I am a Court Attendant, bailiff without a gun, a mixture of security and clerical work. Sometimes when a trial is going on. I have worked for the courts over 20 years, starting at the filing window and have worked myself up the ladder to the courtroom.
I was the principal's secretary in an elementary school in Aurora, Colorado for 27 years and retired 4 years ago. Now I am a clerical substitute in the same school district so I can choose to work or choose to play. Retirement is great!

I am a Microbiologist. I guess I look through one lens or another, whether that be the microscope lens at bacteria, parasites, etc., or through the camera lens! Guess I am a very visual person and love to seek out the different sights in this world whether they be great or small!!
I'm a student at an Acting school just shy of London. Hoping to become a successful working actor in later life, also dabbling in headshot photography as a sideline
I am a retired Captain, navy and merchant marine. I still work as an oil tanker inspector for major oil companies, which involves a reasonable amount of traveling. I live in Dorset England with my splendid Bengal cat Rajah. My hobbies are of course photography, painting (oils and acrylics) and writing short stories when I get the time.
I am a professional musician. I play drums, percussion, piano and keyboards; I work for various bands, artists, orchestras, etc - playing live gigs and recording sessions - and I also teach music, privately and in local schools.
I live near Norwich, UK - but I do end up travelling about quite a lot, for work!
My hobbies include photography, and making bad jokes.
I am a stay at home mom, But worked as an aide for Autistic children in schools before I found my hubby. I would love to go back into working with children or..my second passion dogs! I started my psychology degree but never finished so that would be nice... Oh I have so much I want to accomplish! I am in Vermont,Usa. I do a lot of country shots so you can tell Vermont is just as country as it seems. =D
@samanthamcbride
I am stay at home mum of my 3 great kids.. Before that i was a primary school teacher ( not sure if i want to go back to it when my kids are older).. i want to try something new.
I love in Perth, Australia :)
Currently a stay at home parent to my three and a half year old son, and ten month old daughter. My profile says that I'm a graphic designer, which is sort of true. Technically I'm a print production manager and studio manager for graphic design and advertising, but it's easier to say graphic designer because that's broadly what I do. Before that I was a sound engineer and recording studio manager, and I spent a fair whack of time dj-ing and producing and playing music before small children with strange sleeping habits drew me to quieter and less nocturnal pursuits. I've been interested in photography since high-school, but have become more so since digital has become prevalent, I had a bit of an aversion to darkroom chemicals. I currently live in Cairns, in tropical North Queensland in Australia.
I'm a high school art teacher. I've taken some photography courses, 35mm darkroom photography (3 years), medium format commercial photography (1 1/2 years), and now trying to learn how to use my dslr! I travel a bit but love the challenge to sharpen my eye and learn more about digital photography. I teach my students about Photoshop, so sometimes like to pop a picture (especially if it seems hum drum) and jazz it up in Photoshop. I really am enjoying this project, when I don't feel like I'm falling behind in getting pictures taken!
I live in Puerto Rico :) I will soon officially be a Math teacher (I graduate in June). for now, i work at an ice cream place and live at my parents' house. I'm 22.
I'm a local television news producer by day.
I'm a waitress on the side.
But I'm a dreamer and photographer in my heart.
I've lived in Ohio my whole life. My current city is Toledo where I live with my fiance and our 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a lizard.
Honestly, someday, I want to go back to school and become a college professor.
Or just take pictures for a living.
Someday...
I'm the National Educator for a global herbal pharmaceutical company. I travel around the USA educating the retailers like Whole Foods who carry our line of organic skin, hair, dental and body care products.
I'm a freelance broadcast commercial producer, primarily producing television and radio commercials for advertising agencies. I can shoot and edit, too, and create webisodes, documentaries, corporate videos...etc, etc. I'm also an amateur drummer, guitarist and photographer and live in Orange County, California.
I'm a nomad. After selling up my graphic design and printing business almost 3 years ago, I now wander our beautiful planet in search of interesting volunteer positions - from catching and microchipping rattle snakes in Arizona to teaching English as a foreign language in the Yucatan. When and if I'm home in Cape Town - I part-time lecture in design, typography, packaging and drawing at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and although this is quite a new occupation for me - I'm absolutely loving the interaction with the students.
It's the best career ever, but I need more customers!
I actually have a BTEC L3 in early years so technically i should really be working in childcare BUT after doing the course when my older 2 were younger i realised i really wanted no.3 so along came Connor !
I'm an American who married a Scot 11 years ago and moved to Scotland. I retired early and we spent 2 years in Uganda where my hub volunteered to train teachers. Been back home in Scotland for a year and a half. I love it here!!
I have two granddaughters who live in Michigan. We love to travel and do so as often as possible.
went back to Australia and cared for 4 teens with Autism .
I have 3 daughters, and two of them are away at University, and my 9-yr-old is still in the nest. :-) My husband is from the Tyrolean region of Austria and so we visit there as much as we can. I also have three cats.
whew...I'm sorry. that was a lot to read. but that's me. :)
i don't travel much (funds flow issue .... lol), but like photographing locally.
I'm a Polish living in Ireland (and becoming more Irish every day... ) Studied childcare and now minding 3 wonderful little boys.
@3nder so sorry to hear that!! Good luck with finding a job!
Which is more school!
Always looking for more theatre people to follow on 365-- sometimes I think there's only like 3 of us! =P
I do travel a bit around the U.S. for my job, and my husband and I like to travel a lot for fun, which is great for this project.
i am a sahm and a fulltime carer for my 4 and 7yr old (out of 4 kids) who have type 1 diabetes. I am a qualified teaching assistant and have a degree, but my kids needs mean its hard for me to hold down a job:-( they come first afaiak x
Feel free to check out my online store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/arcoffey
if anyone shops there i can hook you up with some coupons every now and again
I've been a middle school spec ed teacher (severe profound, moderate-severe, some LD, but severe is my passion). I also taught developmentally delayed PreK for a year, but realized middle school was where I needed to be.
I also worked as a statistician in banking in my previous life.
I'm a Medical Laboratory Technician, working in the microbiology department of a hospital in Central Illinois, USA.
I was a nurse and midwife (birth suite) for 28years, recently given it up. I have recently finished a diploma in reflexology and work private practise. I also work for Weight Watchers ~ The gold standard in weight loss!! I am a diamond leader with them which means I have great attendance, great retention and good results!! (Got a nice badge for that!!) I am a super good motivator!!!
I love photography and am really looking very hard into making "boudoir" photography another very real part of my life... watch this space!!
PS loved reading through this thread!
Before I was laid off due to the rotten economy, I was a bill collector. Before that, I was a farmer/farmers daughter in MN. Strange the direction life takes you.
I've been working in IT (programming and systems design) since 1987 when I graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Go figure! :)
In my "previous life," I was an Account Executive for an advertising agency.
I live and work in Kent in the UK.
Here is a link to my online art portfolio, if anyone would like to check it out. :)

Great topic / thread!
For the last three years, I have been creating visual art (mixed media art, ACEOs, and photography) and trying to sell it: http://ArtfulReVisions.etsy.com. In addition, I collect and sell vintage china, porcelain, clothing, and home decor: http://OrchidVintageCache.etsy.com. Finally, twice a year I host in-home parties where I sell sterling silver and gemstone jewelery: deesdelights.jewelry@gmail.com.
I hold a master's of arts and a doctorate degree in English (wriitng and literature). For over 28 years, I have taught English (composition, creative writing, African American literature, technical and business writing, and writing theory to first year university students through master's degree graduate students). Currently, I support my artistic self as an associate professor of English at a mid-sized private university in Central Illinois, USA.
Also, I am single, a world traveller, and a peace advocate.
Thanks for reading this extremely long post. ;-)
I myself am a registered nurse and work in the Intensive Care Unit like @mlillvis I work 12 hours 3 days a week and I feel you can totally tell by my pictures what days I work!!
