Texas' State flower is the bluebonnet! Once a year, around March or April, they are all along the roadside and they are absolutely beautiful.

May 11th, 2011
Yep! We're the bluebonnet here and one thing about it, Moms seem to just have to take pics of their kids in the bluebonnet field each year. It's just a Texas thing, I guess!

The Rose is my national flower. My country’s colors are red, white, and blue. However, I have no white rose bushes and the red bush has not started blooming yet. Therefore, here is a picture of a blossom from my early blooming yellow rose bush.

The Hawthorn is my state flower, but I do not live where there are a lot of Hawthorns. I do have a picture of the state tree blossom (Dogwood).

May 11th, 2011
Apparently for Essex, England it's the common poppy, will have to get a photo. For England they say it's the Red Rose, again will have to get a photo of that as I only have pink roses I think.
May 11th, 2011

The peony is the state flower of Indiana (USA), but they haven't bloomed yet so no photos. The buds are getting more mature by the day.
May 11th, 2011

belgium/flanders is know for it' s poppies (papaver)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
May 11th, 2011
North Dakota is the Wild Prairie Rose. I don't have any pictures of them and I'm pretty sure they're not even blooming yet...we've had such a late, cool spring that everything seems to be behind.
May 11th, 2011
Well gee... because of this subject, I actually learned that I've been WRONG for my entire life!! I always thought the trillium was also our state flower here in Washington. I looked it up just to make sure, and good thing I did. It's actually the coast rhododendron!!! This isn't a coast rhody (I think they're done blooming now anyway), but this is the one outside my kitchen window.

May 11th, 2011

May 12th, 2011
@robv Yes it is (I'm in CA too), and I heard somewhere it was illegal to pick a wild poppy. Is this true or a silly myth? Seems silly to me...

May 12th, 2011
The Philippines' national flower is the Sampaguita. It is a "relative" of the Jasmine flower. The picture shown here are still buds. It's not much to look at really since it is a simple white flower but it gives out a mildly sweet scent.
May 12th, 2011

The UK has a state flower:

"The national flower of England is the rose. The flower has been adopted as England’s emblem since the time of the Wars of the Roses - civil wars (1455-1485) between the royal house of Lancaster (whose emblem was a red rose) and the royal house of York (whose emblem was a white rose). "

I only have a red rose and lots of roses and rose petals! And then a whole lot of multi coloured roses. Will have to get a white rose pic.
