Here's mine :) I had a great time playing around with the settings - it was my first July 4th really knowing how to use the DSLR! I do wish I'd been able to focus fully on the camera, but I was also trying to comfort a very nervous doggie!
@triciaanddazzle
I hope your 2 year is able to enjoy them so that you can, too! We did our big celebration a couple nights ago at my parents house, so this is actually my July 2nd photo :)
I only saw one last year. We tried to take her, but it terrified her, so I had to leave. I know she would like the colors and lights, it's the noise that will bother her. I hope we can convince her that it's ok.

LOL! Love it! I thought you were going to say his name was Firecracker, or something ;) I'm a vet, and I have some patients with pretty unusual names - "Lunchbox" and "Thermos" are golden retriever brothers and they are my favorite pair, "Flea" the mixed breed dog is also a favorite of mine!
@clarissajohal
Here's my "cheater" photo... since we're not going to any more fireworks shows tonight, I put up a pic of my kids' homemade "fireworks Tshirts!" LOL
@dawnetta I work at a vet's office and you're right, you do see some odd names. One of my favs has to be this tiny little chihuahua named Underpants. His sister was a tiny little yorkie named Blueberry. After awhile, saying Blueberry and Underpants together didn't sound so strange. lol
I am sorry for this, but this happens to be one of my favorites. Taken several well 10 plus years ago with a late 18 hundreds brownie cardboard box camera. I am thinking about taking it tonight. It is somewhat awkward to use though. And these two photo's have no minipulation unless the developing lab did something that I am unaware of.
I had a blast shooting fireworks this year! It's the first time I really played around with it, and, though only a few turned out somewhat decent, I enjoyed the process. These are my favorites:
@marilyn
I'm not sure what settings you were trying, but a longer shutter speed (keeping the shutter open longer) actually helps capture more of the fireworks action... I was using manual mode and allowing the shutter to stay open from 2-5 seconds, with varying results. You got some great shots, though!!
@grammyn
Thanks! Found a great tutorial on a craft website today and made... they had a GREAT time making them, and this was super easy! All we needed was the Tshirt, sharpie markers, and rubbing alcohol. So much fun!
Here's the website, if you want full directions :) http://thebutterflyjungle.blogspot.com/2010/06/fireworks-t-shirts.html
@dawnetta I found your original post with the website AFTER I asked you here, of course. I have printed the directions out and can't wait to use it next year for my "grammy daycamp". Your picture was beautiful.
Thank you, everybody for showing me fireworks! What a treat! Thank you, @dawnetta for asking everyone to share their photos! I'm going to come back to these on a freezing cold winter day and enjoy them all over again.

Haha--kidding. It's not dark here yet but as you can see--we're all ready for the festivities. Whoo.

Also, my son seems to think if I have my camera out(tripod or not) that I'm not enjoying things.
Yep! Not a sound other than the kids laughing and going "WHOOOOA! COOOOL!" as the color spreads ;)

First try at fireworks last year.

I love adding the space textures in Picnic :)

Ta-da! :) Man, I love the 4th of July.
Just thought this one was really unusual!
