OK...maybe "want" is too strong of a word. However, you should most definitely want mine. Just sayin'
I know it's hard for some people to choose just a single photo each day to post. Some are even all fancy with an Ace account. Some have Ace accounts that don't even use. Now *that* is lame. But some people, and you know who you are, have some really stunning photos that leaves me begging for more after seeing just one.
But with Flickr everyone has the opportunity to post all their photos from each day. It's a good way to do it because this way you don't have to be friends on Facebook (who doesn't want to be my friend on FB? It's listed on my profile info people haha).
Ironically, I have a Flckr Pro account but not an Ace account here. Flickr also gives you an opportunity to continue making comments, suggestions, fav'ing the photos, and more.
Shut up now? Yeah sure ya betcha!
If you have a Flickr account post the link to your photostream below and let's add each other as contacts.
You're making me reconsider my neglected Flickr account. I have one, but not one photo posted. Maybe as my photography improves (though at the moment it's sliding downhill) I will make Flickr my friend?
I've been meaning to get back to using mine. Been spending too much time on here, Facebook and my blog. Thanks for the reminder! I'll share the link later, nothing there to look at right now. :)
@herussell Erm...what perspective? You mean the perspective on how I'm just awesome and everyone should be my friend? Yeah...I like that perspective, also.
@lolanae Yes, you do. This week. Today. Now. I'll wait haha.
@sdpace Hehe...great minds. Either you signed up the same day I posted this, or you signed up *because* I posted this. In the latter case, it just goes to show you have a great mind to recognize when my great mind speaks ;)
@kynosmom You should do it! I have a website, Facebook, 365, blog, Twitter, Tumblr, GigaPan, Vimeo, and Flickr. Hence...I don't sleep. Ever.
@dkg Yeah, you really should cause your photos are kinda amazing.
@minxymissk I know no such thing! OK...well...maybe I do. Or maybe I just don't believe anything I once believed. Or maybe I'm just playing hard to please so get to it you gorgeous woman haha
@gypsylady How is your excitement contagious online? I mean seriously? Why am I suddenly feeling excited just cause your excited?? Please please please don't stub your toe. I might cry.
@jasonbarnette i saw someone post about Getty images, and since I'm looking for some marketing, I figure Flickr isa good start. I've resisted using it, and I'm not sure why...
@sdpace Oh, hell, since I'm waiting for the sun to get lower in the sky and I've nothing else to do, I'll give you my take in Flickr.
For the longest time I stayed as far from Flickr as I could. I felt it was overburdened with photography already, made it easy for people to steal photos and use them online without permission, so I just didn't bother.
But then I realized the same as you: it's a marketing tool. I upgraded to a Pro account and spent about a week getting everything put together. I added a line at the end of all my captions that reads "Please visit www.jasonbarnettephotography.com to view more photos".
I doubled my website traffic in the first three weeks. I'm averaging 3,000 visitors a month now, with a good 30% coming straight from Flickr.
Over the last two months I've completely revamped my entire approach to marketing through email campaigns, direct mail campaigns, Twitter, and Flickr and I've seen my website traffic triple, I get regular assignments from about five different magazines now, and I'm in contact with over 20 magazines around the world. Flickr really does help.
Join groups. Start discussions. Post your photos in similar group pages. And of course show it off to all of us here ;)
I've created a "365project" set which is a replica of my project on this portal. Why? don't know really. It's interesting to see how's people reaction to my uploads which is often different between flickr and here
@gypsylady Cause it's kinda...I don't...huge! It's blocking the sun and scaring the whales and it's infectious and soon everybody is gonna be excited and *no one* will get any work done.
@jasonbarnette good to know. I haven't looked at the benefit to "pro" yet, but I assume it has less size restrictions. I'm also working on my website, and there's the whole facebook page (that I will probably delete since I can't change my last name on it because of too many fans). I've looked around at groups, namely Texas related and some subject-specific. Thanks for the info :)
@sdpace The basics on the Pro account: *no* limitations whatsoever. You only get 200 photos forever and only 100MB per month upload limit on the free, so it really doesn't help a pro.
Who are you going with for your website?
And the Facebook Page...yeah, they have about 10 big red warnings when selecting your page name that you can't change it later. I hope this is the *only* disadvantage you've found to getting married. Right? Right??
@gypsylady That's not possible. Pretty sure your excitement movement would squish my anti-excitement movement. I don't wanna get squished, so I guess I'll hope on the bandwagon. Yay!
@jasonbarnette well if you're constantly partying are there differences between like normal partying, and then partying harder when you're extra exciteD?
@gypsylady Ah, indeed. When I party hardy it usually involves alcohol, a rubber chicken, and loud music. All the other times is just partyin' like it's 1999. Which I did. When it was 1999.
@luvthyclassics I've been waiting for you to post on this! Can't wait to go through yours.
@jasonbarnette Me again - geez! Do you upload just a low quality image to keep your album size down? Or high res images? Couldn't find the answer on my search :) Cheers!
@tnaki I upload low-res photos cropped at 640px on the longest side. That is how large the photos appear on your main page before enlargement. At that size, nobody is gonna steal it. I do watermark, but honestly the watermark is more for advertisement than security.
Since I have a Pro account, I don't have any limitations on the number of photos I can upload. I think I've got 940 on there now. That's the difference with the free account.
@jasonbarnette So I'm pretty new to Flickr. I've lpoked, but can't find: how do you join groups and view/comment/start discussions. Gosh, seems like some silly questions.
OK here's mine...I need to update more but at least I have some sets up there! Especially sports photography where I take tons and tons of pictures! :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/terrybeigie/
@sweett Haha..been poking a lot lately? It's never a silly question.
On your home screen, click on "Groups" at the top. It will pull up a blank page for you because you have not joined any groups yet. Use the small search box to the right (not the large one in the top right corner) and enter a search query for a group.
I spent hours finding groups to join. You'll get tons of groups at first, but watch out for dead groups. Some groups haven't had a discussion or photo uploaded in months.
Once you join a group, you'll see a place at the bottom of the group page for starting discussions.
@4stories Liz, I am surprised you don't. I think it has to do with joining the right groups and participating. If you like I can recommend some groups that would totally fit your awesome style of photography
Thats mine .....havent really used it, and there are only 3 photos on there! Was going to use it for iphone stuff....I've been going through my 'archives' this week in order to clear out some stuff (otherwise my new 1tb hard drive will be full before the end of the project)...so I think I might stick some 365 'rejects' on it. Anyhoo have added you @jasonbarnette.
Hve you used Photo4me Jason? No doubt you sell your work anyway? Its a friendly site, and seems to be selling more this year than in previous years....just a thought....
@jasonbarnette Yep me again :) I've been trying to add people here but when I go connect I get:
Uh oh. There was an error changing your relationship.
I couldn't find any answers to help - any idea?
Hi, yes I have one and that how I entered that competition through Flickr and got selected as one of the top 25 finalist :-) It was my first ever competition I entered where you actually win prizes! So, I figure there are plenty more to enter! http://www.flickr.com/photos/jillrebecca/
Feel free to add me if you think I am worthy! LOL!
@sweett Hmmm...groups all depend on your style of photography. See...I shoot travel photography...so I've joined travel groups, vacation resorts, state park groups.
Start general. Search for portraits, self portraits, nude self portraits. Then get specific. One specific group for me is Myrtle Beach, where I live. Search by topic like flowers, sunrise/sunset, rainbows.
Well, I have been neglecting my flickr account to the extent that up until a month ago I couldn't remember my login id :-0. The last few weeks have seen some activity ;-) http://www.flickr.com/photos/pete-21/
@jasonbarnette So hang on a mo and lets see if i've got this right. As I don't have a Flickr Pro account will photo 1 'disapear' when I upload photo 201?
@pete21 Yes, that's exactly what it means. Flickr keeps all your photos, but with the free account people can only see the last 200 photos you uploaded.
Besides...for $25 a YEAR you get unlimited uploads, you can create collections to help organize your photos, and you have no limit on how many photos people can see. Definitely worth it.
I'm finally getting around to posting in this thread. I haven't done much with flickr since I set up my account, but then again, I hadn't done much with photography before starting my 365 project in January. So....I guess it's time to start using flickr more, huh? http://www.flickr.com/photos/dejongdd
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonbarnettephotography/
Jason, I like to hear your perspective on things.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/minxymisskphotography/
Anyway, here you are, good sir: http://www.flickr.com/photos/garyblasco
http://www.flickr.com/photos/crazeelife/
mainly 365 stuff, and then just all my photo sets...
i suppose i should upload my "didn't make it for the day" shots too.....
not that great but oh well :)
@herussell Erm...what perspective? You mean the perspective on how I'm just awesome and everyone should be my friend? Yeah...I like that perspective, also.
@lolanae Yes, you do. This week. Today. Now. I'll wait haha.

@gypsylady Yay? You got really excited! Haha
@jessicapena @asrai @notsoaverage @jessicapena @gypsylady @dkg @catsmeowb @sburbidge @fritzbuff @gurry @bonislandphuket @faeriequeen @minxymissk OK...in the process of adding all you lovely people now. I mean...your lovely photography. Can't really say if you're lovely or not. I'll let you tell *me* if you're lovely. By the time you do, I'll have added you as contacts.
@gypsylady How is your excitement contagious online? I mean seriously? Why am I suddenly feeling excited just cause your excited?? Please please please don't stub your toe. I might cry.
I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT!

See? Look at me!? I'm losing work right now.
Who are you going with for your website?

I want to make it tnakiphotography but set up as just tnaki - is it too late to change once set up - can't figure out how to make web address change?
@tnaki I am adding you now. Do you have a plan for your account yet? 365 spillover or outtakes or just more awesome photos?
Would explain a lot, though.
I love my Flickr
@luvthyclassics I've been waiting for you to post on this! Can't wait to go through yours.
@tigervolleyball I absolutely love your first photo in your photostream! That was awesome.
Being a novice - how are the security rules etc for your photos? Should you still watermark them?
has anyone tried instagram?

Here I am, but have to admit I have been slack as I have to figure out how itall works. Would love some more contacts :)

I would LOVE some group recommendations.

That's about all I can really recommend. Sorry :(
