The full moon on May 24-25 is a supermoon which is defined as a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit. This means the moon is slightly larger and better for photos.
Was out there last night, but didn't get near my computer yet to see what was captured. Camping tonight and tomorrow night so may have to get some more.
If you're looking to find out when/where the moon is going to rise for your area, I've written an article about how to use the Photographer's Ephemeris to find out: Shoot the Moon with the Photographer's Ephemeris
@archaeofrog Thanks for that, we summer in a location with fantastic moon rises over water so I've loaded it onto my laptop so I can work on getting the best of those. I also can now go to a friend's place that faces west and gets the sunsets to try and capture the best of those as well. I can't wait to try this out.
@l2lumom It's super useful, particularly if you are in a place where you have options about where to go. One of the bonuses of so many parks around the lakes where I live!
@archaeofrog Great information! I downloaded the App for my iPad, Windows desktop and MacBook Air. You never know which device you'll have when wanting to run this application!
@mikegifford@summerfield I don't think it was either the plane or the moon that took the editing. It was the chopsticks being used to pick up the plane.
@Cheesebiscuit - in fact, it was chopsticks from the very beginning, that's why i tried so many times to goofify it so the trails weren't so straight that they were making me hungry for sushi and sashimi. and after a lot of versions that were epic fails, i had to revert to whatever it was that looked quite like the original. then all i can see is that pac-man thing. aaargh! i guess i just have to wait and capture the real thing, haven't i? thank you. :-)
Here's what I was able to get last night. The trees have filled in an awful lot since last month! May go out again tonight, when the moon rises a full hour later, to get darker colors and hopefully more lights on in the buildings.
Thanks for the info.
This shot was from last month ...

Maybe next time.

I gave it a go but we had some low fog. I'll see what's possible tomorrow.
(Ha! And now you can't unsee it, can you!)
