IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!!!!!!
One of the key aspects of "get pushed" is that we get "pushed" out of our photographic comfort zones... this means that you need to find something that is a CHALLENGE for your partner...
Look thru the recent months of their project and come up with something they don't seem to have done, or have indicated struggling with... it could be a type of subject, a compositional technique, a particular camera setting, use of light, anything... as long as it is something they don't seem to have done, or done much of...
If you're paired with someone who appears very experienced and accomplished, give them a concept challenge - eg.: interpret a word (something a bit intangible like "silence", or "ambiguous"... not a thing like "animal" or "toy")...
Looking thru your partner's albums needn't take a lot of time... but it is very much appreciated when this effort is invested...
Explain what your challenge was when posting your shot. This helps the previous week's winner when they are choosing the week's finalists. And if someone is cruising the photos with a "get pushed" tag, they like to see what the challenge was when looking at your photo.
-- Saturday / Sunday August 15 and 16 - find your partner and issue a challenge
-- Monday August 17 thru Sunday August 23 - take a picture (or pictures) in response to the challenge issued to you, and post it with the tag: Get-Pushed-160, and comment on the photos taken in response to your challenge
-- Monday, August 124 - the winner of week 159 will pick 5 finalists for a vote
1. Find your partner from the list below and click on their name to get to their profile
2. Browse through the last couple of months of photos to get a feel for what they shoot and don't shoot etc.
3. Post an introduction on their last photo, and also issue the challenge you are setting.
RESPOND TO A CHALLENGE
4. You have until midnight next Sunday, to take and post your shot or shots.
5. When posting your shot WRITE A SHORT DESCRIPTION about
-- who challenged you,
-- what the challenge was,
-- what you found hard about it etc.
6. Make sure to tag your shot for the challenge.... Get-Pushed-160
7. Tag your challenger in a COMMENT (not just your write-up). You MUST tag your partner in a separate comment... tagging them in your write-up of your photo is not sufficient as it will not result in them getting a notification...
ALSO
8. it is nice to visit the photo that was made in response to your challenge and offer some comments and maybe even some constructive criticism...
9. On the Monday after the challenge is over, the winner of the previous week will pick 5 finalists for a vote, this can be based purely on their fav photos, who they felt best met the challenge etc, etc.
I need to take a few weeks off Get Pushed after this week. I can participate this go-around though. Probably end of September. It's been great to participate again!
Hi @northy I just want to say first of all thank you for organising this every week, I am really enjoying the challenges! I wanted to ask you, please can you tell me where I can find all the pictures that are submitted each week? I only every seem to see this thread and then the announcement of the winner.... I can't seem to find the thread that shows the pictures of the weeks challenges...? I must not be looking in the right place. Thanks for any help.
HI @homeschoolmom thanks, I don't see how to do that? I tag my pictures "get-pushed- ..." but it doesn't come up as an active link? eg, there is nothing to click on to lead me anywhere?
@northy I won't be able to join the get-push after this week. We'll be doing some traveling and am not sure if I can participate to all the challenges. I will let you know once our schedule get settled back again. Thanks for understanding...
@sitiodown a thread for voting generally is set up on Monday or Tuesday... With the winner announced on Saturday or Sunday... They are usually under the themes and competitions category...
I 'think' I would like to have a go at this challenge but I am quite a beginner and do not have photoshop/lightroom. I am also not sure that the challenge I would hand out would be any good... Do you have someone who could 'break me in gently......'
Even though I am nervous I would give it a good go. Phew, taken me a few weeks to even post this!
@alinz hi Ali... you don't need photoshop or lightroom... you don't even need a fancy camera... the idea is to get a challenge that pushes you out of your comfort zone, but this doesn't mean you have to invest in equipment or software that you don't happen to have! all levels of expertise are welcome and you'll find you can learn lots without even realizing it :)

@northy I haven't heard from my partner for this week. it looks like she may still be traveling. I don't mind sitting out this week, but please keep me on the list for next time.
@northy Thanks for heading this every week, I know we all really appreciate it!! Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate after this week. This challenge is one of my favorites though!!
