Thank you to @northy for hosting the last technique challenge, and thanks to everyone who shared their multiplicity photos and voted. That challenge was a lot of fun!
For the new challenge, I’d like you to try shooting through some petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to achieve a vintage, selected soft focus, or abstract look.
BE SURE NOT TO DAMAGE YOUR LENS OR CAMERA. There are directions in the links below for applying petroleum jelly to a double layer of cling wrap that you put over your lens. Do not put the petroleum jelly on your camera or lens itself. Some photographers put it on a UV filter or clear filter that is attached to their lens, but the cling wrap method looks safer.
The idea of this challenge is to achieve the effect in camera rather than during post processing.
Here are some links with more information and examples:

There’s still a week left in the Vaseline Soft Focus technique challenge, and I am tagging some participants in the recent challenges in hopes I can drum up some more entries. You can see the entries so far here: technique77 (Thanks @northy !)
By the way, I completely understand that you might not want to get Vaseline anywhere near your beloved camera. Be careful out there, people!
Just so you know, I found this excercise a lot less messy than I expected... I never felt my camera was at risk... also, a tiny amount of Vaseline goes a long way :)
@marcy0414 I missed this, but it brought back memories of my alternative version of soft focus. :)
Sadly, this magnifying glass shot was the last I ever took (it was my grandmother's). After shooting it ala panties, I put it in my pocket and accidentally put it in laundry, where it was ruined. It as a fun experiment, nonetheless. 365project.org/darylo/365/2014-07-14
I'd definitely like to try again.
