I was riding with my wife and thought about trying to capture a shot without looking, but attempting to capture the scenery in a moving automobile. I thought about calling this technique, "Drive by shooting", but decided not to because of the seriousness and tragic reality of this in real life. So I chose to call it simply, "Drive by". Or if you like, "Roadside Abstractions".
Anyone wishing to try their hand at it, you are more than welcome!
One thing you must promise and that is to NOT do this while you are the driver. PLEASE DO NOT! There are too many crazy drivers on the roads already.
Two, just point and shoot. No use of viewfinder or live screen to frame.
This will be similar to Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) except a moving automobile provides the blurring.
The length of time your shutter is open is entirely up to you, but there must be some blurring. A lot or a little.
Tag your shot "driveby"
It will be interesting to see what kind of creativity will come out of this!
I've been clicking away out of the car window when we've been out and about. This was my favourite picture on this day. It's all fuzzy and out of focus, and I've desaturated it a bit, but I really like it - just not sure why I like it so much.
