ABSTRACT CHALLENGE - 5

Thank you to @vincent24 for hosting Abstract-4 and organising the voting. Thanks also to you for considering and maybe even selecting my photo as the winner. So it falls to me to organise Abstract-5

My winning image ‘Weeping Man was a selfe reflected in a fountain installation. A huge panelled mirror with water cascading down over its surface showing my distorted image. I saw it as an abstract and photographed it straight. Perhaps to keep it’s abstract credentials I should not have given it that title? This leads me to set this challenge for you:

Choose a subject and try to see it in abstract form so that the subject is not easily recognisable. There are no restrictions on what to shoot. You might want to try a subject that you know very well or something quite new to you. It can be living, decaying, inanimate, derelict, architecture, landscape detail… the choice is wide and all yours! You coud choose a particualr angle or close in on a part of it. You will need to consider factors such as what focal length and which exposure parameters would be best to realise your vision.. then frame and shoot! Simple!!

Other points to consider:

1. Remember that this is all about seeing abstract before you shoot.
2. To really challenge your eye you might consider SOOC but this is not a compulsory.
3. Post production please do not apply any software filters that distort or significantly change the image. (Back and white is acceptable).
4. The shots should be taken within the time frame of the challenge
6 You can enter as many images as you like
7. As with other challenges the person who wins has the honour of hosting the next one.'

A good summary comes from @annied:

'Abstract photography is based on the photographers eye. We're looking to capture something in a way that it would not usually be seen. Looking for the details, the patterns, the lines, the form, shape and colors that complete a subject and utilizing those key features to make an engaging image.'

You have 2 weeks to complete this challenge: the images you show must be taken and uploaded between Monday February 5 and midnight GMT at the end of Sunday February 18

Soon after I will choose finalists to be voted on. The winner gets the honor of hosting the next challenge!

please tag your shots: abstract-5

Please add your shots to this thread so others can appreciate and be inspired by them!

ENJOY!
