Thanks again to Mike Gifford @mikegifford for hosting the last WWYD challenge.
Welcome to WWYD182, the next round of the “What would you do” editing challenge. The picture I have selected as base for this challenge is a bit unusual and intriguing, but I hope it will provide a pleasant opportunity to push our editing skills and our imagination out of the beaten path.
This picture represents the largest part of the mural that camouflages a warehouse at the entrance of the harbour of Saint-Malo in Brittany (France), along a busy traffic road (Boulevard de la Republique). The characters in this mural are flying towards the nearby sea.
You can edit or complement the mural itself, place new stuff on the road or in the sky, use a subset of the mural and replace the rest by something of your own, or develop whatever other idea you may have. This is not a round of the “Artist challenge”, so your objective is not to imitate the artist’s style, but rather to transform his work or to use it as a component or as a background for your own editing creation in any way you like.
Please take this opportunity to discover the author, a renowned French street artist whose artist name is Seth : https://www.boredpanda.com/street-art-julien-malland-seth-globepainter/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
Saint-Malo is the famous “Corsair City” located close to the Mont-Saint-Michel. It is mainly renowned for its historical center, its ramparts walk and its beaches, but it has also a lot of high quality street art.
Rules and how to play:
• Save the image to your computer (you can choose “Sizes” on the right and download the largest version if you like)
• Go wild with any kind of editing techniques you like – anything goes! You can keep or not as much of the original image as you like.
• Upload to any of your albums and tag it WWYD182
• Come back and add to this discussion thread, if you like, to get it lots of exposure (to add your image in a reply click on the arrow near your fav and comment numbers on the image and copy the “embed” code, then paste in the reply).
• You can enter as many variations of this image as you like.
Start date : Sunday June 2nd
End date : Sunday June 23rd by midnight in your time zone.
This challenge is a great way to have fun trying out editing techniques, apps and online tools you have not tried before. Sit back and have fun with things like: horizon straightening, tone, color controls, cures, details, sharpening, gradients, filters, layers, dodge and burn, masks and textures. Enjoy without moderation.
