November 25th, 2019
Thank you to Yao RL @yaorenliu for hosting the Saul Leiter 2019 artist challenge, which was a challenge that inspired me a lot, also thank you to all of who participated and voted.

The next Artist Challenge is Russian photographer: Alexey Titarenko

Alexey is a Russian-born photographer known for his long exposure images and amazing printing talent. Titarenko was born in 1962, and was set to grow to adulthood through some of the most turbulent and culturally altering times in Russian history, he develop himself as a photojournalist .

Alexey uses motion in photography that creates an amazing, ghost-like quality, used in contrast with surroundings that are sharply in focus.

From his book "City of Shadows" Titarenko pays homage with an interpretation of the 1925 silent film The Battle of Potemkin - namely the Odessa Steps scene. The scene portrays Russian military firing into a crowd of people. His interpretation involves a set of stairs with an exposure lasting several minutes as a crowd passes.

@mzzhope @pistache @brigette just sit somewhere you can use a slow shutter and give it a go! if you dont have an nd filter you can improvise with a homemade pinhole or hold something over the lens that is semi transparent, use av setting with small aperture and your lowest iso the camera can set the shutter speed.

or look at the nomenclature of signs work and try some double exposures, you are all capable !

lol

@kali66 thanks for your encouragement, kali! i really want to give it a try if i can carve out the time. and since we seem to have endless dreary grey rainy days at the moment where it seems to barely get light, i should have more chance with it than the contre-jour technique challenge ;)
