Chromatic aberration

August 1st, 2024
I am trying to remove chromatic aberration from a heavily cropped image. It's a photo of my son and daughter-in-law dancing at their wedding. I cropped it down to just show their loving look at each other. But, they have a purple halo outlining them. When I remove it, it looks like someone chewed off the top of her nose. I want it as an 8x10. Any suggestions or is there no way to do it? Thanks.

Frustrating! This is so not my area of expertise…. A few random things I might try are:

1 - convert to black and white 😁

2 - play w magenta colour saturation or colour tone (I forget what that slider is actually called…. The third one in LR that is not luminance)

3 - pixel peep…. Meaning go at it one pixel at a time in PS

You probably already thought of / tried these things…. And really - not sure any would be successful…. But that’s where I’d go with it….

Good luck and let us know if you come up w a workable solution!

Another thing to potentially try might be a manual correction in Lens Correction in Lightroom. Playing around with the sliders might help adjust some of the purple. I haven't used it much myself so I'm not sure how much it can help, but might be worth a try.

@northy Thank you. I tried the first two. When I switched to b&w her nose still looked chewed upon. I think I cropped too tightly and just have to write it off as a loss.

@nickspicsnz Thank you. That was the first thing I tried. It left a gray ring around them.

I hope you saved the original, the lens correction idea might work and then b&w.
