We decided to have a quiet day indoors today; the weather's reverted to dull and gloomy and we are both recuperating from a late night (can't do them like we used to!).
I decided that today was a good time to have another go at full manual shooting, so this is very much work in progress and I'm feeling a bit vulnerable. How daft can you get?
I took a load of shots, varying exposure times and trying out two ISO settings but kept to the same aperture size to prevent my brain from getting totally scrambled! Then I spent an age agonising over which was the least worst shot. This one made it. It could have done with being lighter, and I'm not happy with the focus. The red, flashy light thingy (technical term ;-) ) in the camera came on but maybe I knocked something afterwards. It was very tempting to lighten and sharpen the shot afterwards but I decided to front it out unedited, except for a crop.
The subject's a cluster of laboratory grown Bismuth crystals.
Please be gentle with me, and excuse the nervous babble! :-D

This is fine, but I prefer the 'tomorrow' one best, it is a better shot. Seems you are getting the manual exposure off OK. Just make sure you get the needle in the middle! Then the exposure will work.
