Lester wanted some Him Time in London today, so I took myself off to Banbury in Oxfordshire. It's the home of the cross in the nursery rhyme:
"Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross
To see a fine lady upon a white horse.
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
She shall have music wherever she goes."
No shot of Banbury Cross - sorry - it's in the middle of a roundabout and constantly surrounded by traffic and it's very difficult to get a halfway decent shot of it!
Instead, here's a detail of the statue of the lady on her horse. It's cast in bronze. This is what happens to bronze when you get to work with the sliders in Picasa. :-)
I was very taken with how beautifully her hands have been sculpted. A lot of artists, even some of the masters, have difficulty with hands and feet
