Another better on large view one if you have a moment.
Ramble alert. :-)
Lester and I went to Coventry on Friday. There's a cathedral there. Actually there's two cathedrals there: there's the shell of the earlier one which was bombed in World War II during a massive air raid on the city and there's the new one which was consecrated in 1962.
This history and the interior design of the new cathedral lend it an atmosphere quite unlike anything I've ever come across anywhere else.
Now, if I'd have been thinking straight , there'd be a small series of photos over the next few days that would be attempts to give a flavour of that atmosphere. I wasn't thinking properly, so no shot I took was made with that in mind.
Mistake? Yes. Failure? No, because I've learned something. So this is in my album to remind me to think things through more thoroughly.
It's a detail of a sculpture in the cathedral. It's called The Plumb-line And The City and it's by Clarke Fitzgerald. I loved it for the shapes and different finishes on the metals, although I do think Lady Godiva* could have been modelled in a more decorous pose!
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

This is even more interesting on close up and shows the textures even more. Such an unusual sculpture. There's always time to go back again, may we request a series of your great shots!
A great capture,Alison, super textures!! I only live an hour away from Coventry, but haven't been there for many years.Keep promising myself to go sometime.
Love the great cropping to accent the details of shapes and textures, Alison. Tickled with your comment about Lady Godiva - is quite a neat sculpture though. Love the light/dark, shiny/rough, detail/open - you got quite a bit in this one shot.
My home town - but I cant say I've seen this sculpture, or ever seen Lady Godiver in that pose! But then I haven't been back in 40 years. Times change!
