This is one of those lovely, old, single roses. Many years ago our local council put a barrier up between two roads to stop cars squeezing through a gap that was never intended to be used by them. The council left a small area of fallow ground and some public-spirited residents created a lovely mini garden there. This rose bush is one of the plants in that garden.
I sharpened the image a little and cropped it; the lighting is down to what the camera did - no flash though.
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

@bigsusan55 Me too, this is a rare success. It was overcast today and this bush is in a shady spot. I tried to take pictures of some little white flowers in our local stream which is open to the light and just couldn't get a shot where they weren't overexposed. I'm also beginning to think that it makes a difference if you can get the camera lens right into the subject rather than using zoom.
365 is so great for information - I've had trouble with intense white yellow and red. Thought it was just me or my camera! An expert friend tells me to draw a cross on a piece of card, hold in front of the flower, focus, keeping button half down remove the card and you should have perfect shot.
