Cape Town learned from the San Fransisco Waterfront, and created a wonderful mixed-use working harbour. The Victoria Basin has a marina, a major shopping complex (V&A Waterfront), jetties for passenger liners and a host of outdoor restaurants. In San Fransisco you'll eat fresh crab with sourdough bread. Here you'll savour the local crayfish, and wash it down with our famous wines. It's a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
Update: I've just been told by my cousin who really knows about these things that the precident for this development was the Baltimore Waterfront. How nice - I've learned something new for today!
