One of life's great mysteries is why we Africans, in the middle of summer, dress up our shopping malls with pseudo-snow decorations for Christmas. This is a view of Cavendish Square which is festooned with small, white twinkling lights. It's all very pretty, but so far off the mark it makes my toes curl. I'm not a grinch, but we have so much glorious, real warmth and colour ... what's with the monochromatic look?

it's so funny. In Burkina there would be these snow-men on the Lebanese patisserie windows and yet it woudl be nearly 100 outside. I am so with you on this. A great shot to illustrate the point.
Tradition. St Nick is said to have started in Norway (citing memory) and there is snow (that white stuff) and cold at Christmas time, and no one would dare try to change the tradition.
