Munkholmen by elisasaeter

Munkholmen

The harbor with Munkholmen in the background.

Munkholmen has been used as several things:
- An execution site before 1100.
- A monastery between 1100 and 1537.
- A fortress between 1660 and 1825.
- A state prison between 1680 and 1850.
- A fort between 1825 and 1893.
- German bunkers during WW II.

Today it's a resort and museum. You can't get there without taking a boat. We'll go there in the summer to take some photos there.
What a beautiful view.
