31st December 2022

Last day of 2022. It was raining today and we were preparing for our New Years Eve celebrations this evening. Whisky the cat popped by for his NYE snack of ‘Lidl version Dreamies’. Bacon sarnies for us for lunch before we stared to get ready mid afternoon. Luckily I had managed to get a new top in Kingston a couple of days earlier and had also dug out a pair of sparkly sandals not worn for probably well over seven years and I knew it would be a challenge to wear the for the evening!

At precisely 5.15pm Carole arrived in the car to take us to her flat for ‘champers and pickies’ and we also met their friends Linny and Brian who we had last met four or five year ago in Portugal. They are a nice couple despite Brian’s views on Liz Truss and Boris Johnson!!

The taxi I had suggested booking arrived bang on time from parkers and was a people carrier. It was a bit of a slow start to the evening but with a glass of bubbly before over forty of us made up six tables for a delicious meal - smoked duck salad followed by pork and crackling and then lemon flan washed down with Rioja.

Then, despite my sandals we danced the night away before counting the New Year in. We finally left at 12.30am with our taxi waiting and we or rather I limped our way up Cambridge Road for a late or very early bed.

Happy New Year everyone.
Sounds like a good time!
