5th July 2024

Woo-hoo - its a Labour landslide and the Tories were smashed. I genuinely feel happy about this and in-between cooking and cleaning, watched Kier Starmer visit the Palace to see the King before taking to the podium outside number 10 for his first speech as our new Prime Minister. In celebration I made a Victoria sponge cake but with no butter icing so it looked rather messy (dairy intolerance of one visitor!).

I then carried on with some cleaning but luckily we had a blitz last weekend so not too much to do. A quick walk (in the rain) to Tescos for the bits and pieces that Lidl failed me on before returning home to whisk up a spaghetti Bolognese for dinner.

Mum and Ian made good time and arrived before 6.00pm and so could have a few cups of tea and a slice of cake before dinner. It’s lovely to have them here - just wish the weather forecast was better for the coming week. Whoops - Wordle again for today.
