Treasures from the beach (2)

I found this whelk shell on the beach. Its unusually big size and the intriguing shapes of the many mussel concretions drew my attention. I guess the shell stayed for a long time in the sea after the death of the animal, before being washed away on the beach. I brought it back home to make the photo in natural light on a black background, since the contrast with the sand was too poor on the beach.
