Imagine my surprise when I discovered that scene. I could almost hear this superb blue tiger crying, upset to have to stare forever at a concrete brick wall in a world of junk. Here is the story : seven years ago, an animal conservation charity, financially backed by local authorities, ordered from local artists 24 decorated street sculptures of wild animals. This was a campaign to promote tourism in Clonakilty under the label “Jungle City”. The sculptures were installed at various key spots in town. Most of them are still in place but not that one. The place where it had been originally set has been modified, and there is no room for the tiger anymore. So, it is just sitting in a dump for now, although it is still in perfect condition. So sad, isn't it ?
