This small military building perched on a rock was used to monitor the ship movements at sea, and especially to look for pirats, smugglers and invaders. After some fierce debates between catholics and non-catholics, a statue of the Virgin Mary was installed at the beginning of the 20th century when the building was restored and decommissioned from its original military purposes.
