Another fishermen chapel from here. This tower dates from the 12th century, except for the 16th century spike. The spike is made with lead and has stabilized in a strange askew position across time, under its own weight.
I guess I should read first. I was twisting that around to see if it was due to the pov that it looked askew. I’m glad you mentioned that. Hard to imagine structures so old and still standing. The brick part looks as sturdy as the day it was built.
@cheeryb Hello Cheery, thanks for your interest. I am not quite sure, but I think that the large metallic mass of the chapel roof is prone to attract lightning, so the multiple little spikes must be connected to the ground and act as lightning protectors.
