I haven't been taking many pictures lately because I have been scanning and editing old photos. My mother took this one during the first winter she and my father were married. They were married in July 1930 and the stock market crashed in October. They did not lose their house like so many others, but she always talked about how tough it was during the Depression. They lived there until the 1960's.
I remember Mom's old box camera but don't know if she took this shot with it. She didn't take many pictures by the time I came along, so it may have been broken. She bought me a Kodak Brownie.
Two of my nieces and I are undertaking a huge project of scanning family photos in order to preserve them. I do minimal editing but can't stop myself from trying to recreate a faded image or removing a few spots.
