When I first learned to forge, the instructor asked us to forge a spoon as our test piece. We were given a 4mm x 6cm piece of square stock and could make whatever shaped we wished, but it had to be at least 9cm in length when finished. The shaping had to be done with a hammer, not a file.
This is my test piece. It's not a fancy spoon, but the lines are graceful, and every one of them reminds me that I am capable of more than I think I am.
@cottiac Since we lived in Saudi at the time and were waaaay out in the boonies, I was fairly sure it wasn't due to experience, but we did have a discussion...read serious MOM face there.
Congrats on making finalist for the macro challenge with this awesome shot! Good luck!
And, it is so good that you actually made this spoon as well. So cool and well done!
