Squintley is 15. If he were a child for whom birthdays were still magical milestones of accomplishment, one might even say he was 15 1/2! Adam rescued him on a hot summer night in Saudi from the middle of the road. He traveled from Saudi to the US and from the US to Cyprus. God Willing, he will make the trip back to the US with us.
Most of you know that Squintley has been poorly. He was diagnosed with irritable bowel disease and gastric lymphoma a few months ago. The treatment for both is essentially the same with the addition of chemo for the lymphoma. Since I was leaving the country for an extended period of time, the decision was made to hold off on the chemo until I returned.
Last week, we took him in for a check up and to start the chemo. We were blessed to get a good check up. Since the meds Are working so well on the IBD/lymphoma, we will continue as we are and hold the chemo in reserve for when we HAVE to use it. This allows Sir Squintley to have a greater quality of life. Every day that I see him doing things like climbing on the wall to look out at the orchard, I feel blessed.
