Odor Map

When I was a girl, there was a ginormous honeysuckle vine on the fence outside my bedroom window. All summer long, the scent of honeysuckle put me to sleep. It was the scent of cool nights and quiet.

When we went to Farmington, my Grandma Clark had a ginormous honeysuckle vine on a trellis separating her yard from her garden. The strawberry patch was just behind the trellis. The odors of honeysuckle and strawberries are mingled in my odor map of Grandma's house. She used to get cross with us because we would pick the strawberries that she was trying to keep to make jam. Our dirty faces always gave us away.

I have mixed feelings about the honeysuckle here. The scent is so lovely, but the vine is a perfect hiding place for vipers. Right now, it is growing beyond where the pups can go, and our gardener is very cautious, but I wish it could be the innocent vine of my childhood.
Sorry about the mixed feelings - I love the scent of honeysuckle too and it is definitely one from my childhood. Really like the idea of honeysuckle and strawberries combination. We don't have to worry too much about vipers here.

Well I should have mentioned your capture - which, of course, is lovely with the backlighting and gorgeous detail along the edges.
