"Fredville Park has wood and parkland of 100 hectares (247 acres), featuring many 'ancient' trees including a Majesty Oak listed in the Guinness Book of records as the largest maiden Oak tree in the United Kingdom. The site also includes a 2 acre 18th century walled garden, although the associated house was demolished in 1945. The walled garden is now used for Pheasant rearing."
I'd visited Fredville Park a year or so ago and as the village of Nonington is fairly local to Dover, thought the beautiful trees there might be a good subject to play with infra red. I expect everyone is thoroughly bored with these shots by now, so no need to comment, I'm just having such fun with them had to add a few!
@paul10 Thanks Paul, I know not everyone likes IR but it's restored my flagging phojo. You can use a filter but you need to use a tripod with a long exposure so I went down the route of gettjng a cheap IR converted camera on EBay. The post processing is a bit fiddly but it's fun too and it's a bit different. If you have an old camera you can get it converted for about £80. You can also take a normal pic and try faux IR processing. I can look up the link and send it on if you'd like me to.
@fbailey I carry my tripod everywhere with me when I have y camera on me so that's not a problem. But a link would be nice if it's not too much trouble - thank you :-)
Not bored at all, I love these shots. Your creativity is wonderful to see. First glance, I always think it's a snow scene and I'm drawn into the image.
So many people here, plus me, are definitely not bored with your experiments in IR. Lovely tree and an interesting touch of colour ... did it come out that way or was it introduced in PS?
@yrhenwr Thanks David - I don't really know what I'm doing here, it's a case of guess and press. I only have Elements so I added a Channel Mixer, change the Red and Blue over, play around with a Hue/Saturation level and maybe tinker with Viveza a little. If I want b&w I just use Silver Efex. This is how it comes out though, If I want something a little different I play with Sepia shades so it can go three ways really. Would like to try the pink foliage but that's beyond me at the moment:)
If you use Elements as I do and don't have full Photoshop you will need to download the free Elements+ from Adobe which will give you a Channel Mixer.
It came set up ready to shoot, and with a very helpful instruction sheet too and an email address if I wanted advice.
