there was a big downpour this afternoon but luckily for us it only lasted for a few minutes. the deluge brought different kinds of cats and dogs. some survived their fall and now sidewalks were lined with felines and mutts waiting to be fed, the poor things. but people were downright sick and tired of this unusual deluge. but apparently, according to the weather channel, we are lucky that the downpour only brought cats and dogs -- in california, it rained horse and monkeys! imagine if one were on the road driving, it might be difficult to avoid being hit on by a monkey, much less a horse! but in the mid-west, they’re predicting goats and pigs!
what a picturesque idiom. but did you know the equivalent in french is Il pleut des cordes the direct translation of which is "it's raining ropes". another french idiom is il pleut/flotte comme vache qui pisse which translates to "it's raining like a cow pissing". at least it's a cow pissing. imagine if....
